"Argh!" we hear you scream. "There are so many rules, they need a whole forum?!" Well, no, not really. We just realise it's easier to find a particular rule if they each have their own thread. Fear not, we're not ogres. =D |

Elysian Underground
![]() Elysia's Underground is a huge crystal cavern in a roving dimension that was created by Xanth when an incident in New York threatened to expose the Elysian marketplace. Just large enough for a dragon to wander, the cavern houses the main market square and the hospital before leading into the Coliseum. The south entrance leads to a series of residential areas built for Elysians who no longer need the safety of their sanctuary. Ranging in value from as little as $100 to $20,000, there's something for everyone here and the estate agent is always on hand to help you find the home of your dreams! Despite the underground nature of the caverns, the crystal ceiling looks to be a completely natural skyline and there are even clouds and rain on occasion, though the weather is usually clear. Legend has it that the huge crystals growing along the cavern's walls are magical and that they are responsible for the seemingly natural atmosphere within the Underground, but those self-same legends also claim that some of the crystals are cursed to prevent thievery. The Coliseum
![]() Styled after coliseums of Ancient Rome, a large structure fashioned out of huge limestone blocks stands atop a craggy island just large enough to safely house the arena. Accessed by a portal that leads onto the very top of the well-kept staircase, the Coliseum overlooks a rocky beach. On a clear day, it's possible to see the beaches of the Ao Coast. Note: The Coliseum is for scrapping and fighting, not for normal roleplay. You can post normally here but it must be centred around a fight. Lake Cora
![]() Known for its isolation and the rare creatures that live in or around it, Lake Cora is a nearly intraversible wetland. The marsh thickens on its way north, leading into a dangerous bog once past the Danurai Bend. Danurai is not completely cut-off, however, as trade caravans routinely travel upriver to New Alexandria or on horseback around the lake. There are also other means of transportation available from Espur.

The Fae Forest
![]() The Fae Forest is a sylvan dimension of enormous trees inhabited by all manner of creatures from the mischievous imps to the seemingly magical unicorns. Centred around the Fae Tree, which is quite literally Imp City, the forest is also home to the Shapeshifters and Nymphs who have each built their own verdant villages within Fae's borders. Rowan Caverns is the manmade cave system dug by Shapeshifters centuries ago. Originally situated in the wilds of Canada, it was completely transplanted during the 2007 withdrawal from Earth and now stretches for miles beneath the roots of the forest. Aboveground, Sequoia Village rests atop the trees, transplanted at the same time as Rowan Caverns. Built into the trunks of massive sequoia trees, the village is a startling contrast to the surrounding area and is circled by a glittering moat-like stream. A second portal, located a day's travel north, leads to the darker and more dangerous Chandric Forest, where a Portal Guardian prevents access to Acantha.

Dusky Mountains
![]() The Dusky Mountain range is a sierra of ice- capped peaks, coniferous forests and icy lakes stretching north-westerly into the distant horizon. Griffin reside here in eyries that are built into crevices in the mountainside, as well as gytrash in the forests. Hydra can sometimes be found in cave systems while their offspring (baby hydra) prefer to build giant nests in forest clearings. Many Nymphs practise their abilities here so the weather is volatile and fire frequently sweeps the forests. Avalanches are also common.

Ao Coast
![]() The Ao coastline is a stretch of limestone beaches and cliff faces that drives east from the north-westernmost foot of the Dusky Mountains. Dropping off into the Ao Sea, this area is infested with hydra and griffin who feast on the teeming fish knots and banks of bird nests all along the coast. Experienced Anyeli often train here in dare- devil maneuvres that test their flying skills and tempt the nearby griffin population to play chase. Many of Elysia's Nereid eventually find their way here to practise their elemental abilities or even set up home and grove.

Yondallar Rainforest
![]() Yondallar Rainforest is a huge stretch of jungle that covers the entire eastern half of Elysia and butts right up against the Dusky Mountains and Ao Sea. With only a single portal right at the centre of the rainforest and a raging river that bites through the land between the mountains and the trees, Yondallar is a dangerous place and easy to get lost in. Many of Elysia's creatures can be found and hunted here and an extensive cave system eats into the western section of the forest leading from the Duskies. Xanth's Temple
![]() Xanth's Temple is the oldest surviving temple from the rush of architectural glory that surrounded her arrival on Earth twelve thousand years ago. A mixture of Chinese and Ancient Greek design, it is a magnificent testament to the wonders humanity is capable of achieving. Within its white walls is a knot of hallways and corridors that will confuse anyone who doesn't know where they're going. Many of the rooms are booby-trapped to prevent would-be looters and the Temple's inhabitants from stumbling across items and knowledge they aren't meant to have. In recent years, Xanth has restricted access to the Temple, preventing any but herself, the Aides and the creatures of her menagerie from entering. More recently she has also forbidden entry beyond the throne room to anyone but herself and the menagerie, for reasons unknown. Special: Aides only, else by invitation Post requirement: 150 words (750 characters) Pronunciation: xænθ [zanth] |

Acantha
![]() Several thousand years ago, Xanth was involved with a man of her own race called Danae and in the space of a few short weeks what started out as love rapidly became furious war. Since that time, the portal to Acantha has been guarded severely by both an official guardian and the hungry monsters that roam Chandric Forest. After a three day hike northward through the Badlands, an area fraught with danger from all manner of beastly creatures, the weary traveller will come upon Nanea, a small Tudor nestled in a valley that sprawls beneath Danae's Palace. Nanea is the only safe place for miles, protected by Danae's Captains, but it is not safe from Danae's frequent mood swings nor the demands and needs of his opulent home. OOC note: Only human and Dragon characters can enter Acantha normally without causing a war. However, it may be possible to plot something out with Danae but first you need to contact an Aide for permission. ^^

Earth
![]() Many Elysians have never been to Earth since by nature they're in danger the very second they step through the portal but Earth is eclectic and open-minded enough now that you can wander at will - especially around Halloween - as long as you at least try to fit in. ^__~ Earth is an open-house area, meaning you can visit anywhere on Earth as long as it actually exists. This is a non-Elysian zone so be prepared to meet humans who know nothing about us and be warned: Xanth and the Aides don't take kindly to people who expose us. OOC note: Please make sure you state clearly in your topic's description exactly where your thread is located (eg. Honolulu, Hawaii). Nirim
![]() Nirim is a vast place, spanning a globe almost as large as Earth itself. Its habitats are diverse, many of them unreachable on foot. Teeming with life from the common sheep to the wilder salamander, each dragon claims his or her own plot of land and protects their territory vigorously. This is a wild and untamed land, safe only to the dragons and their kin, so it is no surprise that no portal exists to connect Nirim with Elysia. The only method of travel to and from Nirim is by teleportation. Only dragons are allowed to roam freely outside the city and anyone else caught outside the city boundaries are punished severely, frequently eaten by the dragon who catches them. OOC Note: All humanoids must have a beast escort when travelling outside the city walls. The escort will be a bonded pair who will test your character's trustworthiness and intent, then demand payment (between $50 and $200) before transporting you to the outskirts of Nirim City. From there, your character can pay for escort to anywhere in Nirim, but only humanoid Dragons are allowed entry to the inner sanctuary. We prefer that you actively roleplay the dragon escorts on the NPC account. However, you can just mention them in your own posts as long as you don't neglect or ignore them.
Special: Access to Nirim is via dragon-escort only. Level: Level Three and above Post requirement: 150 words (750 characters) Wyvern: Petric [NPC] Pronunciation: nɪˈɹɪm [nih-REEM] |

Zanarya
![]() Zanaryans were the second of Xanth's creations but unlike the Anyeli who were nicknamed angels, Zanaryans were pushed to the edges of human society when superstition labelled them demonic. Increasingly exasperated by the name-calling, the Naharar at that time asked Xanth for help and in answer she gave them a new world. Over time, Zanarya was split into six nations, each one claiming land most in sync with their element. As a race, the Zanaryans are led first and foremost by their Naharar who lives in the Zanaryan Temple, a massive structure that borders each of the six nations and is politically and elementally neutral. The four Shrine Lords also live here along with many Zanaryans in need of sanctuary or schooling. Important: Zanaryan Culture Special: Zanaryans only Post requirements: 150 words (750 characters) Naharar: Alim Hesham [NPC] Pronunciation: zʌˈnɑˌjʌ [zuh-NAR-yuh] |
