The Rowan Mysteries is a collection of twelve adventure books by Therian brothers Shawn? and Hans Amberstone?. The series began in 9,981XA? with the last book having just been released in Minevas of 10,012XA?. The series follows the adventures of a Dracovarian explorer named Bartholome Gil until its sixth book where he is joined by a female Apalos named Yena Miston, with whom he develops a relationship.

Each book tells about a completed adventure and normally revolves around lurking monsters within a cave or something a little more supernatural, such as the shades? of lost miners or an entirely magical spirit short of being a Nymph. The volumes are:

• The Rowan Mysteries Book 4 "The Northern Mouth"

• The Rowan Mysteries Book 6 "Xanth's Promise"
• The Rowan Mysteries Book 7 "The Veins of Amarytha"
• The Rowan Mysteries Book 8 "The Hills Beneath the Rocks"
• The Rowan Mysteries Book 9 "The Hind's Abyss"
• The Rowan Mysteries Book 10 "The Shade of Echoes"
• The Rowan Mysteries Book 11 "The Weeping Blossoms"
• The Rowan Mysteries Book 12 "The Ender's Door"

Many of the books have met critical success, particularly the first, sixth (for its favorable interpretation of the goddess), ninth and tenth and each has met its own share of disastrous reviews, of which the fifth book was the worst. Although said to go on for three more books, the series was cut short after the twelfth book. Some rumors say that this is because of their fading reader-base but others fear worse -- such as a deteriorating health on the part of Hans.
