Description: Elementals are tiny particles of concentrated elements that form spontaneously throughout Elysia. In their primary form, they're usually the size of marbles or smaller, although the largest primary ever recorded was the size of a tennis ball. Because their primary forms are very weak and easily extinguished, elementals tend to stay very close to the source of their element, pairing up and clumping into groups when they meet. When an elemental is alone, it assumes its primary form but they tend to band together where they morph or blend into their secondary forms. These secondary forms are more stable and not as easily extinguished but can be extremely dangerous. As it takes ten or more primary elementals to form a secondary, this form is more rare. However, it is also stronger and more self-sustaining so it can be found further from its source than primaries can. Rarer still are the tertiary forms of elementals created when large clusters of secondary and primary elementals merge together. These tertiary forms are completely self-sustaining, much larger and more humanoid in appearance, and are very difficult to extinguish. There are six types of elemental:
Abilities: In their primary form, elementals are powerless creatures but they do inherit traits from their source element. Fire elementals, for instance, will burn if you touch them. In their secondary form, elementals are more self-aware and are larger. They can make a conscious effort to protect themselves against external threats, such as clustering together to form a blinding light, but still rely on the traits of their source element. Tertiary elementals, however, are far more dangerous. Self-aware and more humanoid in shape, they can channel their source element and direct the energy from it to protect themselves and lower forms. Weaknesses: Elementals are extinguished when they encounter their weakness, usually the exact opposite of their source - a marble-sized speck of fire would die in the rain while a marble-sized speck of wind would putter out when forced into a matchbox due to the lack of oxygen.
