NOTE: The Guilds programme has been suspended until further notice. EF just doesn't have the numbers to sustain it. ;)

The Guilds of Elysia

Guilds can be a fun way to meet new people and find new roleplay partners. With a good leader, you can enjoy guild plots and rest assured that you'll always have someone to roleplay with.

Along with a listing of Elysia's guilds, this page tells you all you need to know to join a guild or create one of your own.

Joining and Leaving a Guild

Any character who has been actively posting for more than two weeks may join a guild. Make sure to read a guild's information carefully and that it's the place for you before trying to join. Find out how the guild operates and how they'd like you to join then approach the guild's leader.

You must roleplay leaving a guild. In the case of guilds which have a death policy for members wanting to leave, you'll need to work with the guild's members to plot how your character can leave.

Creating a Guild

If you can't find a guild that's to your tastes, you can create one instead. Guild leaders have more responsibility and must ensure that both site and guild rules are followed by all their members when participating in guild threads and events. They must also make sure that the guild's journal is up to date and that their members are active and have as much information about the guild as they need.

Rules

* Guild rules changed on January 2008. Previous guilds were grandfathered in from the old system.

  1. Guild leaders must be level 5 or above.
  2. Guild recruits should have at least 10 posts.
  3. Your guild must be approved by an administrator before you set anything up IC or recruit any members.
  4. You must have recruited three separate active members OOCly before you can create your guild IC.
  5. You may create NPCs (within reason) specifically for guild use.
  6. All guild members should be recruited IC through roleplay.
  7. You can create rules for your guild but they should not counter or undermine site rules.
  8. It is your job as guild leader to keep your guild journal up to date and your members active.

Guild Journal

As soon as your guild is approved and you've recruited three or more members OOCly, you can create your guild's journal and headquarters threads. You can get as detailed and as fancy as you want with your guild journal but it must include the following:

  • Basic information about the guild's leader and any co-leaders including a link to the characters' profiles and contact information.
  • A general description about your guild, its purpose or interests and its OOC and IC policies.
  • Information on how to join and leave the guild both OOC and IC.
  • A list of current and past members.
  • Any guild rules you want to instate (in addition to site rules).
  • Links to any important guild threads, especially your headquarters thread.

Guild Headquarters

No matter what type of guild you create, you'll need a HQ. This thread should be in an appropriate IC forum and should follow site rules including post requirement and the area's climate and geography.

The first post of your HQ thread should be a general description of your headquarters so your guildmates can roleplay from it accurately. It should not contain any roleplay because moderators will periodically (usually when the thread reaches above 10 pages) split the thread and archive old posts, leaving your description intact.

Guild Listing

Once your guild journal and headquarters are set up, make sure you PM Xanth with the names and links of your guild, your journal and your headquarters thread so we can add your guild to the listing.
