Scorpion

Forms:

  • Giant scorpions are between four and six feet in length.
  • Scorpion kings are anywhere up to thirty feet in length.

Uses:

  • The heart, blood and venom of a scorpion king can be used in a concoction with other, secret ingredients to cure Hind poison.
  • Scorpion venom is used by weaponsmiths and in potions.
  • Scorpion hide is used in the making of armour.
  • Scorpion flesh is considered a delicacy and is rather tasty.

Description: Giant scorpions overran the Scorpion Desert - named after the infestation of these pestulent beasts - before its flooding in 2006. The majority of the species was destroyed in the flood but a number of eggs survived, buried deep in the sand. Hatching once the waters had receded, they gave rise to a new generation of scorpions and nothing really changed.

Growing up to six feet in length, giant scorpions are a pox on desert life. Burying themselves in the sand during the day, they erupt at night until the desert is seething with them. They seek out natural sources of nutrients and water, such as oases and the odd cactus, feasting until they're spent or the source is destroyed.

Once in a while, a scorpion king will hatch. No one knows why certain eggs birth scorpion kings but these monsters are much larger and can reach up to thirty feet in length. Thankfully, though his venom is far more deadly, he's much more passive and will rarely attack unless provoked.
