Character Stats

Elysian Fields as a realistic fantasy game so there are several things to consider when roleplaying you might not otherwise think about such as hunger, healing injuries and even how your character ages in comparison to a human. Your character can die or go bankrupt and they could get stuck at level one if you don't roleplay their weaknesses as well as their strengths. ;)

Age and Aging

Your character must be the equivalent of 18 years old when created. As each race ages differently and has a different age at which they consider their people adult, however, it can be difficult to know what age your character actually should be. This table compares Elysian races to humans and should help you figure out how old your character should be in order to appear as a human at a particular age (a 400-year-old Anyelos would look (and feel) only 25, for example). If a race has N/A for an age field that means they never look that age.

Human Anyeli Dracovari Nymph Therian Zanaryan
18 100 120 18 18 150
25 400 1000 30 25 300
30 600 2000 40 30 500
40 800 2500 60 40 700
50 N/A N/A 70 50 900
60 N/A N/A 90 60 N/A
70 N/A N/A 100 70 N/A
80 N/A N/A N/A 80 N/A

Vampires do not age at all once turned and can be older (but not younger) than 18 when created.

When deciding the age of your Vampire character, please keep in mind this equation:

Apparent Age + <5 years

What does this mean? Well, all new characters must begin at Level 1 but anyone who's been a Vampire for more than a year would have begun to learn certain abilities if only by accident. Because of this, characters cannot realistically be Vampires for more than a maximum of 5 years and still remain Level 1.

In other words, when deciding your Vampire's age, it cannot be more than 5 years older than their apparent age. ;) -- Added: August 2nd, 2008

Having Children

All children should be approved by an administrator before the pregnancy is confirmed IC. They should be put up for OOC adoption no more than one week after they're born but can be played on the NPC account until adopted.

All pregnancies should last a minimum of one month from conception to birth but you can make it last up to the full term of 9 months in real-time if you like.

Offspring can remain children until they're officially adopted OOC, at which time they should be 18 or the equivalent and fully adult. They can be godmodded from the parents' account as infants but once they reach the age of 10 or the equivalent should be played on the public-access NPC account.

Character Health

Just as you might suffer injuries or illness, your character might be poisoned or whacked over the head with a two-by-four. There are four categories of injury and illness that are used to determine how badly your character is hurt and how quickly they can heal from those injuries. These categories also determine how much a visit to the hospital will cost, what potions would be effective and how long it would take for them to die of their injuries if they weren't healed.

Minor
Minor injuries can be ignored for the most part: you'll not be too pretty for a while and you may be sore but you'll otherwise be fine. However, giving your character an injury when they already have a minor injury will automatically upgrade their health status to moderate.
Minor injuries include things like:
  • Cuts and bruises.
  • Small burns.
  • Broken toes or noses.
  • Warts and verrucas.
  • Broken fangs / horns / tails.
Minor injuries can be healed by a doctor, a character with healing abilities, or by drinking a minor healing potion. Some minor injuries can escalate (such as infections) and will be upgraded to moderate if they aren't healed.
Moderate
Moderate injuries will escalate if not healed by a doctor, a character with healing abilities, or by drinking a moderate healing potion. You will not be able to take part in official quests or plots until you've been fully healed. If you're injured again, your health status will upgrade to major.
Moderate injuries can include:
  • Broken bones and wings.
  • Fractures and head injuries.
  • Large burns.
  • Lots of bleeding.
Major
Major injuries will escalate dangerously if not healed by a doctor or by drinking a major healing potion. You will not be able to take part in official quests or plots until you've been fully healed and in fact most major injuries will prevent you from walking around at all. If you're injured again, your health status will upgrade to life threatening.
Major injuries can include:
  • Heavy bleeding.
  • Several broken or fractured bones.
  • Loss of limb / wing / tail / fangs.
Life-threatening
You have somehow managed to do something truly nasty to yourself (or someone did it for you). If you don't see a doctor, you'll die. You will not be able to take part in official quests or plots until you've been fully healed and in fact you won't be walking around at all. If you're injured again, you'll be killed.
Life-threatening injuries can include:
  • Massive blood loss.
  • Loss or breaking of multiple limbs.
  • Lots of large burns.
  • Heavy poison.
Death
Oops. You were injured so badly no one could heal you (unless you have enough karma to pay for a resurrection). But don't worry, no one can kill your character without your express written OOC permission. If you insist on putting your character into situations where they are injured repeatedly and badly enough, a moderator or writer will warn you that your character is going to die. If you don't get them to a doctor ASAP, and/or don't reply to the death warning, we can only assume you want them dead. ;)

In addition to injuries and illnesses, your character is also subject to hunger and fatigue. We don't insist that your characters eat three meals or sleep ten hours a day but we do encourage you to have them eat and sleep or at least mention them doing so regularly. This is especially true for Vampires whose abilities come from feeding on blood and who can die from not feeding.
