Alterna emerged from the portal and let her eyes adjust to the darkness of the tunnels. True, there was some light coming from the glowing crystals on the walls, but still not as much as outside. The empty tunnels of the sanctuary always kind of sent shivers down Alterna's back. If this place had bustled with Thereians it would be an entirely different story, but all that body heat would make the tunnels stuffy. Besides, what good would a lot of people do for a Thereian like her? She wasn't that fond of talking, and wasn't good at carrying a conversation.
Alterna was slightly tired of walking on all fours and wondered if maybe the tunnels contained a pool. "They should,"she muttered to herself, which came out as high-pitched squeaks. "After all, there are marine Thereians that need to go swimming occasionally and there are such things as underground springs." She frowned, there were all these different doors and different tunnels and were easy to get lost in. Which one could she possibly know contained a pool?

Tasha Anasi walked down the hallway, strutting in her usual fashion. She had it in her head that life was meant for fun and that was all there ever was to it, and although most people interperated her strut as rudeness, that was simply not the case. Smiling brightly, the marine therianthrope never hesitated to talk to anyone she passed. It was true, most people didn't spend a lot of time in the caverns (and after all, who would want to with it being underground and all) but still, the girl had an obsession with exploring every nook and cranny of the place.

The glowing stones that lined every tunnel astounded the black haired girl. She loved to examine them whenver she wasn't travelling through the tunnels and shrieked in delight if she ever found a new color of the odd minerals. Yes, it's true, the young hispanic woman had an obsession with geology and wasn't afraid to show it under any circumstances. Walking joyously through the caverns to wherever her next discovery would be, Tasha smiled when she spotted a new face. And and animal one at that.

"Hi! I'm Tasha, who're you?" She said cheerfully as she ran up to the creature. Not as deft at zoology as she was at geology, Tasha's face changed for a moment. "Can I ask what you are as well?" She said, her voice still as light and friendly as ever.

Hearing quick foot steps, Alterna turned her head toward the sound. Alterna pricked up her ears as she saw a young hispanic woman run up to her, the first person, probably a Thereian also, she'd seen in the tunnels. "Hi! I'm Tasha, who're you?" Alterna opened her mouth to answer, but remembered that she couldn't speak in this form. A slight change occurred in the woman's face as she asked, "Can I ask what you are as well?" This lady Tasha didn't seem to be a bad person, but you could never tell from appearances. Holding up her paw in a 'please wait' sign as best as she could, Alterna slowly turned from an otter to her human form.
"My name's Alterna, and I'm an animal based Thereian, and not very well trained so I'll have to turn into my otter form soon." She liked to inform people of this fact as soon and as quick as possible, so that if she turned into her otter form they would know why and not think her rude. Quickly glancing down the dimly lit tunnels she asked Tasha, "By the way, do you happen to know of any underground pools?"

Tasha smiled as the creature held up a paw before shifting. It was definitely a therianthrope, and one with amazing manners as well! Smiling as she saw the form of a girl take shape, Tasha elated at the thought of having someone come with her to explore. It was so rare to see someone this far away from the living sections of the caverns as they weren't exactly known for their good times, but Tasha knew that one day she would find the discovery of a lifetime in these miraculous caverns.

Listening politely to the girl speak, Tasha giggle lightly in her typical giddy manner. "No, silly, I meant what animal are you?" The words were saidly in a playful, friendly manner as always, but the question still stood. Hearing her new potential friend's question, Tasha put one hand on her chin and wrapped the other across her stomach for a moment in a 'thinking' position as she did just that, think. after a few moments he eyes sparked and then so did her voice. "Yeah! There's one down this passage a bit. It's not too long of a walk, so if you want I can go with you!" She said joyfully. She'd have offered to carry the girl as well, but most therians considered that an insult -- though the young woman didn't fully understand why offering assistance was so awful.

Smiling broadly, Tasha barely refrained from bouncing as she waited for a responce of any kind from this stranger she hoped to get to know well.

Alterna blushed as Tasha said that she'd meant what type of animal. "Oh, sorry. I'm an otter, and to be more exact a North American River Otter. " I continued. "And I'd love it if you could take me to that pool you were talking about. I could tell you more about otters or any other animal in general if you'd like."
Alterna loved to talk about animals. Mostly because she was mostly one and also because she found animals a lot more attractive than humans. After all, what exactly could you talk about in humans? Sure they can reason and think, but if you threw them randomly into a foreign place, they'd most likely die without their tools. With only their minds and not a lot of physical strength and speed they could easily be caught by a large predator or an easy prey could escape them. Alterna loved being an otter, a creature of the land and the water. Perhaps one day she could live among some real species for a period of time. A smile began to creep along her face as she thought about it.
She'd begun to gaze off into the distance, but quickly returned her gaze on Tasha. "I forgot to ask, what Genus of Thereian are you?"

Tasha smiled broadly as the girl said what her animal was. "An otter? OH! Is that why you want to find some water?" She exclaimed, sharing her realization with the girl. "It's this way, follow me!" She said as she started to walk off at a decent pace and contemplated exactly which turns she needed to make, and where. Deciding on a course of action, Tasha walked briskly down the cavern until she heard Alterna's inquisition and realized the otter shifter wasn't following her.

Smiling again, or rather, broadening her nearly constant smile, Tasha spoke up. "I'm a Marine therian! Catfish to be specific!" She near shouted to make sure the girl heard her. "Now come on! It's not that far! Last one there's a rotten egg!" She yelled again in enjoyment. Alterna might have been a weak shifter still, but with how close the water was she would surely be able to make it without having to revert - though she might be exhausted by the time she did. Taking off in a run, Tasha made sure to go slow enough that she could easily be followed, but she was not about to be dubbed 'rotten egg.' That would be a tragedy worse than death itself to her.

A Catfish? Alterna began to think. That was interesting, and in the wild she usually didn't eat catfish. They were usually too big and they were more fun to chase than to actually eat it. She usually ate the smaller fish, called Perch or Sunfish if she remembered right. Before she could think some more about it, Tasha began to run."Last one there's a rotten egg!"
Alterna frowned for an instant. Running on two legs? She tried to avoid that, because that drained her even more when she was in this form. Alterna didn't want to be unfriendly to Tasha by not playing along, so Alterna began to run after her but not at full speed, she didn't want to tire. Of course there would be plenty of time to lie on her back in the water to rest, but she also didn't know which ways to turn, so it made sense to stay behind a bit. Looking back and forth from the ground to Tasha, Alterna ran after her. It would be just her luck if she tripped on something and fell. Alterna could feel herself tiring and hoped that the water wasn't too far from here. Perhaps it would be a good idea to be the rotten egg just this once.

The garden was boring. It was as simple as that. He'd lived within it his entire life, and loved to get out every chance he could get. Before Nymphadora, Sacha was stuck, wandering the plains without much to really do. No other females of his species, at least cheetah, existed within the garden. And even if there were, they'd have nothing to do with him. His mutation, although helpful in so many ways, was what one would call a turn off for the ladies. At least, the normal felines. Sure, there were a few others that didn't mind his bulky black wings, but mostly, they scoffed at his presence, and continued on.

With his familiar out and about, busy ignoring him, and with him not needing to be with Nymphadora, Sacha had found himself wandering around the shifter grove. There wasn't much to do within the forest either, though the surroundings were new, and exploring was half the fun. When he'd gotten to the tunnel, the large king cheetah wasn't sure what to make of it, or even if he should venture inside. He'd seen others pass, most which ignored him, something that wasn't done often. He knew nothing of shifters, or their way of life. He didn't even know what exactly they were. Or any living race actually. The large cat could determine from humanoid to beast, but that was about as wide as his range was. No matter what his communication skills were with the nymph, Sacha was still a wild animal, who couldn't grasp the differences between a human and a demon. Or hell, even a human and a nymph. Allure had no effect on him, as there was no attraction between man and beast.

Once deep within the caverns, Sacha ignored the fact that his wings would be useless within the caverns. Venturing on, he slowly followed the scent of the springs coming from deep within. His route was different than that of the two shifters making their way to the same destination, but both paths intersected, combining into one before continuing on into the springs. As Sacha neared the fork, the thudding sounds touched his ears, causing them to flick forward quickly. Humanoids had passed him along his route, so their sounds didn't startle him, though as always, Sacha remained cautious.

Stepping forward, his large paw silent on the rocky floor, the winged cheetah stepped into the path, directly before the runners heading his way. He'd step back before being tripped on, of course, but his sudden appearance might cause one of their steps to falter. Who... was a matter of time.

Tasha laughed and giggled as she ran, though staying careful to not slip and fall or some such nonsense. The girl had fun with life, and enjoyed being immature, but she wasn't stupid. Running quickly, she found herself looking back every few moments to make sure that she was still being followed. It wouldn't pay much heed to gain a new friend just to so quickly lose it. "Come on you slow poke!" She yelled, her hispanic accent flowing like a blanket gently wrapped around the words.

Giggling again, Tasha breathed erratically as she ran the corridors of the therianthrope sanctuary and home. She wasn't really watching for others as it was rare to ever see anyone this far into the caves -- especially since where Tasha was heading wasn't exactly on the current maps. Coming up upon a three-way split in the tunnel path, Tasha turned back to look at Alterna. "Come on, keep up!" She giggled playfully, at least until she turned her head back to look in front of her again.

Screaming, Tasha found her self directly in front of a large winged cheetah. Unable to stop at that close proximity, she tried to fall back but continued to skid about. If the cat didn't move quickly then it looked like Tasha was about to make another new acquaintance.

Alterna couldn't really understand how Tasha could keep giggling and running at the same time. If she'd been doing that, then she would've grown tired in an instant. Despite Tasha's urging voice to keep up, Alterna kept well behind. Alterna would've sighed if she hadn't been busy running and getting even more tired every second. Alterna's attention to where she was going, began to decrease and her mind began to wander to other things. Like, would the water be warm or cold? These questions weren't very important, but to Alterna they were a lot more interesting than running on two legs.
When Alterna heard Tasha's scream, Alterna was so surprised that she pretty much leaped two ft. off the ground. These extra two feet gave Alterna a pretty good view of the winged cheetah and this made Alterna even more surprised than she already was and Alterna completely forgot about concentrating on being human. So when she hit the ground she was already halfway otter. Landing on partially otter feet, Alterna fell right on her face and quickly became fully otter. A puff of dirt flew up in front of her eyes and made her even dizzier and for a few minutes she just lay there confused and wondering how in the world did a cheetah with wings get down here?

Of all the humanoid creatures wandering throughout Elysia, Sacha found that the most bumbling idiotic, were that of shifters. They were like, retarded animals. Creatures that couldn't understand, nor ever would understand, the true meaning of being animal. They struggled to be more than one person, never quite sure of themselves, and always changing. It was like taking bipolar to the extreme. Not only were they fools, but most of them were energetic fools, who couldn't keep the peace worth censored.

Of course, seeing as they protect Nymphs, Sacha felt obligated to respect them, although it was a far stretch from trusting them. Nymphadora's own boa was that of a shifter. Avian. Sacha could smell it on him. As well as on Nymphadora at times. He'd not been able to detect the male for some time, though it had been the case before. Like most avian creatures, the man as fickle, never able to stay in one place for too long. He'd come into his familiars life, then disapear all so soon. Of course, Sacha didn't mind.

It did however, add on to his distaste for the shifting creatures that roamed the lands. Why he'd felt compelled to walk among the younger critters that obviously had no control what so ever, it was beyond him. At times, he even thought himself an idiot.

As he stepped out into the fork, the high pitched scream caused Sacha's fur to stand on end, his initial instinct kicking in before he could have any control over it. Letting out a loud hissing roar, Sacha extended his paw, swiping at whatever had come flying at him. Thrusting his wings against the shallow walls of the cave, their feathers brushing along the sides, he lunged for the creature, ready to take it down before it could take him down.

This was not good, not good at all. This made no sense even to Tasha's limited knowledge of Zoology. Why was a cheetah wandering underground? However she didn't have much time to think on the matter, the cheetah slashed a large paw out at her. The sharp claws tore into the flesh on her leg shredding the clothing covering the area and leaving gouges in her skin, the pain was so intense she couldn't even continue thinking about her friend. The Cheetah's paw not only sliced her legs, but took her out in mid run. As she tripped over its outstretched leg, she fell face first into the dirt, her wavy black hair splaying around her like a veil. She threw her hands over her head and tried to push herself away from the cheetah with her uninjured leg.

" Owie! Ow, ow, ow, please don't hurt me don't hurt me. What is a Cheetah doing underground anyway! "

She didn't know what was going to happen, she assumed this Cheetah was in fact a cheetah and not a Therian, as its attack on her seemed very much driven by animal instinct. Therians were animals in part, but they had human reasoning and she hadn't seen any of them brutally attack someone like she had been for no reason. Still she didn't want to lift her head and expose her neck and stomach, that would be a mad idea she thought. She could turn into her catfish form if she needed to, in order to try and avoid its claws, but so far from water it would be a very bad choice. She hoped her friend was still alright and hadn't gotten on the bad side of this cheetah.

The dust settling around Alterna and on her nose and let out a cat-like sound. It had very much confused her at first when she was told that she sounded like a cat, because she was a canine. But after hearing a cat she realized that otters did make a meowing noise that was a little raspier. 'Meowing' again, Alterna tried to see what was going on around her. Due to her closeness to the ground, Alterna had a very bad view of what was going on. At least she could still hear what was going on, and flinching at the sound of the cheetah's roar, saw the cheetah lash out at Tasha with a quick swipe. Quickly, Alterna got onto her feet and was ready to bound away, but her instinct was to not draw attention to herself. Hearing Tasha call out,

" Owie! Ow, ow, ow, please don't hurt me don't hurt me. What is a Cheetah doing underground anyway! "

Alterna felt relieved that at least the cheetah hadn't killed Tasha. In fact, the cheetah seemed to be in a more defensive position than an offensive position. It's the cheetah's own fault anyway, walking right in front of us ,she thought. Alterna was completely useless though and decided that maybe it'd be better if she just walked back the way she came from and took a splash in a fountain in the Elysian Underground. Besides, an otter was no match for a cheetah no matter what. Hoping that Tasha would understand that she didn't want to leave, but there was no use for staying there anyway. Sneaking away, Alterna made her way back to the portal, took one last look over her shoulder and then hopped through.
