Ok, so as you all know, there is a rewrite going on. Thinking about Angel's one day this idea came into my mind.

Anyeli always have to struggle with having their wings out all the time. What if they could retract them into their skin? Meaning, they grow and shrink.

No before you poke me, yea i know, it does resemble a shifter. And with lack of a better description, id say that yes, its very much like shifting. The wings would grow or "sprout" from the Anyelis back, then they would retract.

So when walking around, an Anyeli would look like a regular person.

This idea is way out there, but I wanted to get everyones opinion. Maybe if enough people like it, it could be a possibility. Let me know what you think by answering the pole, and if you could post below to go into detail on your thoughts, it would be appreciated.

(and example of how they would grow/shrink... kind of like how Chenoan can do it with his Gryphon wings)

I think that they should be able to in a certain level. They could have an ability called "shift" or whatever, and they could retract their wings then.

A level between 3~5 is good to acquire the ability, IMO.

I don't really like the idea, I'mnot sure why exactly, but it is a lot like shifting. Maybe they could fold them so all that's left is two little feathery black/white/grey bumps on the back? small enough that they aren't visible underneath clothes unless it's something really tight fitting? (e.g Spandex)

I really don't like the idea of growing, because really, wings are like one of the angels body parts, for instance vampires can't control teeth growth, ect, ect. Sure shapeshifters can, but it's not the same, it's not really body parts, see what I mean?

Oh, and as a note, if you do go ahead with it, you'll have to include demons too, won't you?

Yea my main problem with this is the acceptance from the players of shifters. Having this power is treading on theirs, and I assumed it wouldn't be appreciated. Thats why ive made the poll.

Ad for the bumps idea, *shudders* that creeps me out, lol. I think having the full wings would be better than that =P But thanks for the idea

And as for Demons... good point. However Anyeli were created differently than Demons, but yes in theory, they should be able to retract their wings as well.

And having it be a level restriction is an awesome idea. This way they learn it at a later level, and it takes time to master.

Any other ideas? Any other way this could work without stealing the power from shifters?

Personally, I see the inability to shrink their wings a weakness for Anyeli. The wings give them power, but they have to deal with them all the time.

As I understand it, they can push their wings against their bodies so they aren't always fully out.

As for demons, their wings are bat like and can push against their skin. I think...

Invisible Wings for certain levels!

Sorry, I'm in a weird mood. Erm, yeah, retractable wings sounds good, but it also sounds a little painful. Being the odd person I am I can imagine it graphically. Not a nice picture, if you're talking about fully retracting. The ability depending on the level sounds good. And shrinking wings. Maybe how they're different from demon wings, being made of feathers and such, should play a part in it. Like, erm, magical feathers which float away and float back to form wings.

-gigglesnort- OK, that was really stupid, sorry. Trying really hard to think of a way to make this post of any use. If it was magical retracting, as in not painful and biological possible then that would be great. Oh, I'm not sure. Just pretty much ignore this, yeah? (Cept for my suggestion about invisible wings. That was serious. But not really).

I agree with Russ in the fact that its a weakness... and all speacies do need weakness.

On this however, yes, Hollie is right. It would be very very painful. Even higher levels would experience the pain. No way around that.

Thats the negative with this. An anyeli can avoid it, and not retract the wings, they wouldnt experience the pain. But if they could handle the pain, they could retract them.

There is a chance it might be implimented... or not. But i just wanted to see how many people liked this idea.

I don't like the painful wing-retracting idea. A lot of RPing activity happens around non-elysian-human Earth. You know, if I had Devi retract her wings every two seconds just so she wouldn't be picked out from the crowd by humans, she would have to be quite the masochist. Which, in fact, she isn't.

If it's possible, some high leveled genius might make some sort of "disguise shop", where they sell things that inconspicuously cover up the species-feature of choice, either through magic or some other clever method. I'm not that partial to this idea, since it feels too powerful for my liking. But I would still prefer it over the former.

If you choose the Skotadi Faction, you can use the ability "cloak". This makes you hide in shadows, becoming invisable. Higer level Anyeli can cloak their wings to make them seem human. Apalos however, do not have this option.

Yes, retracting your wings would be painful, and it would take a lot of energy. Meaning... you could probably only retract them once every so many hours. Or something. Its not something that one could do every few seconds.

Making it painful is a way to prevent some Anyeli from doing this, while others, who either like pain, or can handle it well, they might prefer to retract thier wings. Obviously the higher you level, the less effort it takes to do this. but the pain will always be the same. If anything, you might be "used" to it, which might make it "seem" less painful.

Again, this idea is up in the air. A lot of people dislike it for reasons explained here in this thread... but obviously some people do like it, especially if we put restristions on it. Ive listed all the restristions we could possible do with it, but if yall have any ideas, let us know, and we'll try and tweak.

(us meaning me, since im proposing this Idea to the Aides... but they read this thread too... i hope) =P
