[Daoine]

"Um, yeah... yeah, that sounds good Dae."
Daoine looked up as Zephyr called her that. Dae.... the name rang through her mind like a clear bell. There was only one other person who had ever called her that, and that had been ages ago. But even if, so what? They were good friends and there was no harm in shortening eachother's names right? It didn't necessarily mean anything else. Attempting to hide a small blush, Daoine brushed some strands of hair from her face

"She's a magnificent creature, Dae."
"She is indeed. I'm so happy that my ritual went well, I'm very excited about all this. It was pretty impressive though, to be around these old and wise Dragons who guided me through it. I was quite nervous to be honest. But after a few attempts it almost felt natural to try to summon a Beast Dragon.".

As Zephyr smiled, Daoine sheepishly smiled back at him and called to Badger. Putting him on his leash again she put away the toy he'd been playing with to make sure it wouldn't stay behind here in the park.

"Shall we go then?"
Briefly she felt how her arm brushed against his as she stepped up to him. And goosebumps popped up as a thrill made it's way up through her body. Looking up into his eyes she softly said "Yes, let's go."

[Zephyr]

Daoine's arm tickled Zephyr's skin as it brushed against his own. The contact made his body shiver but he brushed the feeling aside, though it did make him think. As the two walked towards the vendor, Zephyr decided he needed to say something or he'd explode. "Daoine... What's going on... between us?" Zephyr asked, rubbing one hand across the back of his neck.

He hoped he question didn't cause a rift between them. She was deffinately his best friend, but there was something else too. "Love?" He wondered nervously. Zephyr wasn't sure what he felt, but he knew that Daoine seemed to know his feeling before he did. It ws kind of nice, not having to explain things all of the time, but still, he needed to know what she felt too.

As Zephyr walked next to Daoine as they still headed towards the vendor, Spirit rubbed up against the hand that was still on Zephyr's neck. moning his hand around the bird, Zephyr petted hm by stroking his feathers gently. Even though he as paying attention to Spirit, he didn't look at the owl. His eyes were on Daoine, as it seemed they always were anymore.

[Daoine]

"Daoine... What's going on... between us?"
Daoine's heart skipped a beat as Zephyr asked this question. Out of all things she'd never expected him to just bluntly say this. Her face turned red as a tomato while she frantically tried to straighten her mind in search of the correct answer. Yes she definately had feelings for him. All the signs were there. How many times had she sensed these emotions within other people and creatures. Even Zephyr's feelings were as clear as crystal to her. So why ignore it for herself any longer?

She felt his eyes were fixed on her but didn't dare look back at him. "I .... I ..." she stuttered; "I don't know what to say. You're my best friend that's for sure. But I would be lying if I said that was all. I'm just afraid ... well it's obvious I know you feel the same about me, but I just don't know if I want to jeopardize our friendship. I don't know what I would do if I would lose you." she softly continued. Then she finally turned her head and let her eyes meet his.

[Zephyr]

Zephyr froze when one of Daoine's sentences fluttered into his mind. "She feels the sme way!?" He thought, suddenly excited. If she felt the same way as him, then where did that put them? They obviously weren't just friends, but could they become more? Zephyr loved the idea of it, but would Daoine? The gold dragon was the only person Zephyr had ever gotten close to. Even his childhood 'friend' Khalil had been more like a rival.

Zephyr walked up to Daoine, looking down into her beautiful brown eyes. His own orange ones focused on her softly, studying her. Standing there for a moment, it looked almost as if Zephyr was reading Daoine's mind, and maybe he was trying. Maybe he wanted to know that she deffinately felt how he did, or maybe he just wanted to know what he himself was feeling.

Emotions had always been a hard subject for Zephyr. He'd never been allowed to show them when he was younger. And until now there'd been no one for him to show them to. Daoine... it was like she was able to pull them out of Zephyr. It had confused the red dragon at first, but over the few months he'd known Daoine, he'd learned to love it. In fact, he'd discovered what love was because of her. He'd discovered that he loved her.

"We won't lose our friendship, I promise." Zephyr said softly. Perhaps that wasn't a promise he should have made. Especially as there was no way he couldd keep it for certain. But still, what Zephyr was feeling had been bubbling for a very long time. In fact, every time he tried to stifle his emotions they grew even stronger.

Bending his neck slight, Zephyr kissed Daoine softly. In all of Zephyr'syears e'd never kissed anyone. He'd only seen it done by movies, or other couples here and there. At one point he wondered what it was. In fact, at one point he wondered WHY anyone would want to touch their lips to someone else's. But now, now he new, and he wouldn't forget.

[Daoine]

"We won't lose our friendship, I promise." Daoine smiled, she felt he meant every word of it. Although she had always been a strong and emancipated type of woman, she realized all too well that everyone needed to be loved in the true sense of the word. And finally, finally it seemed that she had found hers.

As Zephyr stood close to her, Daoine's hear thudded in her chest like crazy. She sensed Zephyr's emotions as they were displayed quite strongly. She shut her eyes for a moment to block them. Although sensing the emotions of others could be a huge advantage, it was not always appropriate. And this was such a situation. She didn't want to anticipate what was going to happen. For once she wanted to be as oblivious as any girl or woman in this situation. Afterall this would -hopefully- only happen once in a lifetime and she didn't want her abilities to spoil the moment.

Slowly Zephyr moved in to kiss Daoine. As his lips softly touched hers, first a shock, then delight, made themselves master of Daoine's feelings. Feeling his lips on her own, Daoine kissed him back gently. It was a soft and sweet kiss, the kind you only have once. As much emotions as she had experience with, this was a first.

Seconds later she softly retracted and looked into his big eyes. Her hand softly grasping his she could only whisper "Zephyr".

[Zephyr]

Zephyr closed his eyes softly as they kissed each other. When Daoine pulled back he smiled. Holding her hand gently in one hand, Zephyr softly caressed her face with the other. Their moment was sweet, innocent, perfect. It was something Zephyr hadn't even known existed until now. But he was very glad he'd experienced it.

Zephyr smiled as she said his name, it seemed to almost roll off of her lips. Slowly, he pulled her body to press against his. Smiling softly, he turned his head and rested it gently on top of Daoine's. His six foot and three inches that usually towered over his closest friend now barely noticeable as he shared this moment with her. For once in his life, Zephyr was at peace as his heartbeat slowly matched the rhythm of Daoine's own beating heart.

"Daoine... I love you." Zephyr whispered softly. It was the first time ever in his life he'd loved someone, at all. Sure, he'd respected his father, and his spar master, and the clan elders, but he didn't love any of them. In fact, they'd taught him that love was a weakness. That in times of war your enemy would go after the ones you loved if they couldn't get to you. These thoughts all trickled through Zephyr's subconcious as he stood there, happily lost in the moment.

[Daoine]

As Zephyr pulled her closer again and rested his head gently atop her own, Daoine wrapped her arms around him and closed her eyes. She sensed that he was completely relaxed and so was Daoine herself. Just standing there in the comfort of his strong arms was a wonderfull feeling. Although her life had always been pretty good -besides a few rough patches- she could not remember the last time she'd felt so safe and content. But right here, right now, the moment was just perfect.

As a few short moments passed as Zephyr broke the silence "Daoine... I love you.". Turning her head slightly so she could look up into his eyes "I love you too.". Though she honestly could say it same to him, it still felt strange somehow to say it out loud. Feeling something and actually saying it were definately two completely different things.

As she gently let go of Zephyr and took a step back to look around she noticed it was almost dark now. "I think we should be getting back, don't you?" It was getting late and to be honest she was pretty tired. "We can share a portal back to the Underground if you want?" she said with a wink as she reached out for his hand. She was glad that they had finally worked out their feelings. It had grown from a strong friendship and Daoine was pretty confident that they had a good chance of making it together. Still there was no telling what the future might bring ofcourse, but she would see it and take it on as it came on her path.

[Zephyr]

Zephyr smiled broadly as Daoine replied to his words. In fact, smiling was all he could do. He was so amazingly happy that he thought nothing could bring him down from cloud nine. Except for the fact that he couldn't stay with Daoine any longer. From somewhere not too far away the familiar 'gong' of bells marked the time change. Zephyr was late for work. Grimacing at the thought, Zephyr nodded when Daoine spoke. "I have to get to MPD, and then from there I need to go to my shop. Feel free to stop by." Zephyr said with a smile.

"I'd love to share a portal with you though." Zephyr said with a grin. As much of a pain as going through those stupid portals was sometimes, being with Daoine seemed to make everything better. Zephyr faintly remembered something men used to do for their girlfriends a very long time ago and decided to mimic their actions, though not quite as serious of course. "M'lady?" Zephyr said playfully as he bowed and extended his arm in front of him for her to link her own arm into. It was an outdated gesture, perhaps, but hopefully Daoine would enjoy the sentiment.

[Daoine]

As Zephyr confirmed that he needed to go back also, Daoine whistled for Badger. She'd put him on his leash a little earlier but not paying attention as she had been caught up in the moment with Zephyr, Badger had managed to wriggle himself loose again and run off.

A few seconds later Badger appeared while holding a big branch firmly between his jaws. Daoine gave him the loosen-command and he immediately dropped the branch and heeled next to her. She bent to put him on his leash again, this time making sure there was no way he could escape. Then turning to Zephyr as he spoke;
"I'd love to share a portal with you though." she smiled at the sight of his big grin. It was so nice to see him so happy. She remembered all too well that he had a rough past and that his memories often haunted him. She hoped that he knew that she was there for him.

"M'lady?"
Daoine looked to Zephyr as he bowed and lowered her eyes to the extended arm as he made his gesture. With a grin she moved a step closer and linked her arm into his. "Sir, I would be honoured to be escorted by you." she grinned as they started to walk to the portal back to the underground.
