Godmod Awareness!

Recently, there have been an over the top amount of godmodding happening at EF. Although it's allowed, and in some cases, makes a post run smoother, we do try and discourage it.

Godmodding of couples are our more tolerated gm's, but there comes a point when the RP suddenly begins to read like a book, instead of two characters interacting. The point of RPing, is being able to control your character, while enjoying another's response. With excessive godmodding, not only is the surprise taken from the RP, but it allows for confusion.

Our goal with this contest, is to eliminate all godmodding of every kind. We want to see pure reactions, and be able to reply to them with our own. To be able to bring EF back to the basics, and enjoy the outcome.

Unlike other contests, this one is a requirement. Every player will be requested to play, and all players will contribute to weather or not we receive our rewards.

Remember, while godmodding is normally allowed, pregodmodding is never allowed under any circumstances.

Rules:

The rules are fairly simple. There is no godmodding allowed of the following: Other characters, NPC's, ONPC's, Significant others, Bonded creatures, Sentients, Elysian creatures.

The only allowance of godmodding throughout these next three weeks, will be that of pets. You are not permitted to godmod another's pet however.

Because the rewards are great in this contest, they are still achievable even if godmodding is done. For every use of godmodding, no matter how small or major, no matter how many times done within a single post, we will extend the contest by two more days.

Xanth and her Aides will be joining in as well. In extreme cases, they are permitted to godmod but will only do so when necessary.

Awards:

First week completed, 1 new creature will be reveled.

Upon the second week completed, 2 new creatures will be reveled.

Finally, at the end of all three weeks completed, a new forum will be introduced to Elysia!

End Date:

The contest will end when 3 weeks have been completed. (Including additional days should someone slip)

Should no one slip, it will end on the 24th at midnight.

Just to clarify- this means even if you ask the person you're rping with beforehand, you can't gmod their character?

This sounds so challenging!

That's correct. No godmodding of any sort, even with permission. The only godmodding we will allow during the length of this contest is that of your characters pet. =) (This does not include bonded creatures, they are not allowed to be godmodded)

I have a question too.

What if a character is in a position where it NEEDS to be GMed?

For instance, Zephyr's knocked out and already in Slythe's arms. Somehow he needs to get into the hospital and get healed

If your character is knocked out cold, unconscious from injury, or about to die, then the first thing I would suggest, is getting a doctor to go to them. Then they can heal them without having to godmod the transportation. If that cannot be done, then the injured character can post while unconscious, perhaps having a dream of some sort, or a flash back to their past, there they can verify that they are in fact being transported by someone who is attempting to transport them.

Only doctors have permission to godmod healing, so to prevent death.

Due to a recent bout of godmodding in the cafe, this post in particular, todays prize will be withheld for 2 days. The contest itself, will also be extended for 2 days, making the end date now the 26th at midnight.

So far, this contest has been moving along amazingly! So much improvement over the past week and a half, really. As a member of this contest, a player, I'll admit myself, not being able to gmod really makes you have to get creative. In some cases, its downright annoying. But its awesome to see that everyone is up for the challenge, and willing to work through it!

Because of everyones hard work, I'm releasing the first prize! Emma and I hope you like it, and hope it will bring a bit of fun to EF in the future =)

Congrats to everyone ^^ Thank you for rewarding our good posting with a new creature, it's really awesome I'm really enjoying myself here and being new to the whole RP thing, there probably couldn't be a better time to have this contest, because it'll instill it in my mind more clearly .

Here we are! Week 2 completed! As some of you might have realized, there was in fact a 2 day delay in releasing our second week of prizes. I apologize for not announcing it, but the good news, no more waiting needs to be done!

With that being said, I do need to direct attention at the delay in the contest, as 2 additional days have been tacked on for godmodding. Yes, even NPCs can't godmod other NPCs during this contest. While its normally acceptable, we've not allowed it, just to prove how difficult it is to refrain from godmodding. Basically, were just trying to show everyone, how much we all rely on it. And hopefully after this, we won't take it for granted. *wink*

We are in fact still in the middle of this godmod awareness month, and it does pertain to new members as well. Please everyone, make sure you read the newsbox. We'd mentioned this gmod awareness event several times. Important things happen up there. *pokes it*

Sadly, two days will be tacked on to this week's prize, and our final goal. The 31st will hopefully be our last day of godmod awareness. Thanks, and trust me guys, the prize IS worth this hassle. If not making people more understanding and less dependent on godmodding.

Sadly, I must say now that indeed, two more days will be tacked on. Which means, this contest is now extending into April! We don't want to make this a two month contest do we? XP So everyone, please, please, please be very careful of your posting. If you happen to see some of our newer members not quite understanding, take them under your wing!

Now, I'm sure you're all glad that this annoying inconvenience is out of the way, and you can all go back to godmodding. Actually, I'm pretty sure most of you will think that in and of itself is the best prize we can give

BUT, you'd be wrong!!

For everyones hard work and dedication, for all the effort placed into this contest from everyone involved, Emma and I are ecstatic to open a new forum for everyone to enjoy! Yes, its a forum even newbies can venture to! But don't worry you more advanced beings *wink* Just for you thrill seekers, there is a sub forum for advanced characters only. =)

Now, I must take the time to apologize for being 2 days late, we were unfortunately having a bit of timing difficulties in Emma's and my scheduling. For that inconvenience, and also as a bonus for ALL your amazing dedication, we are also releasing a bonus!

Although I know you are all excited to see what the heck this stuff is, I do have to take a moment to talk about future godmodding here on EF. Yes, it is allowed again. Godmodding of NPC's especially, such as waiters, people passing by, someone stopping a moment to whack you over the head. That sort of this will be allowed. However, we really hope that everyone takes what they learned here, and tried their hardest not to godmod. Especially when specific elongated interaction is happening with your character.

Also, this includes godmodding of other chars. We are allowing it, as long as you have permission from that characters player, but again, try not to? It's so easy to simply just... do what you want. But remember, this is a RPG. Lets remember to give others the chance to respond, and our readers the chance to be surprised. Maybe she'll slap him for trying to kiss her? Maybe he accidentally didn't take the coke from her hand, and now is covered in it? These simple things that don't seem important... they can make or break a RP

Anyway, its up to you all to decide how in depth you want to do with this non godmodding. But we hope this contest has opened some eyes to it in general.
