The Quadrangle

Quote

The quadrangle is a pretty little square in New Alexandria. Overhung by chiolen trees at each corner, Xanth's Statue sits at the centre of a clean-cut grass quadrangle.

Radeu Ilashan, Zanaryan Delivery Man played by Inimicus

Radeu moved the basket closer to his body, the dang this was pretty big and it was damn heavy...but he had expected something like it. Today was some sort of holiday, he never really bothered to find out what as he didnt personally care for these holidays. You deliver so many gifts and presents and the holidays all start to loose attraction since when you are not carrying packages you dont want to get your own.

Still he knew enough to know whomever bought this Package had spent a lot of money. There was a big White Bunny, big wasnt even a good word, huge came closer. It was almost half the height of a normal man with big cheery eyes and a permanant smile fixed on its face, a large deep purple bow was tied around its neck. Scattered around it were dozens of chocolate eggs, filled chocolate eggs, various toys, and dozens upon dozens of assorted other candies...someone really loved the person this package was going to.

It was going to be delivered at Xanth's statue is all he knew, he didnt know who it was for and didnt care....why the person wanted it left for the recipient at the statue he couldnt guess. He had originally thought it was for Xanth, but no one could be that sappy and that much of a suckup. Still the heaviness was rather annoying in flight, even as used to flying as he was with his leathery wings this thing was heavy. One might wonder why such an well trained demon was delivering packages and he never really was able to answer them.

Flying over the market square he spotted the trio of statues approaching below him, flapping his wings once more using his powers to push some wind to ease his flight he landed by the statue of the Goddess Xanth. The card on the gift was blank, it just said to leave it by Xanth's statue.

Rolling his eyes the demon set the package down in one of the marble bowls, made sure everything was there and left. As he left he caused a gust of wind to blow the card open, just a little extra gift. The card read

" Happy Easter "

Mere seconds after Radeu left the quadrangle, a child no more than six years old peeked out from behind Xanth's statue as if she had been hiding there all along. Her wheat-coloured hair was cut short in a pixie bob and her violet eyes sparkled with excitement. Dark pink dungarees with fraying hems and muddied knees completed the child-at-play appearance and only the flash of hidden power in her eyes gave her away as anything more than the young girl she appeared to be.

Glancing left and right, she checked the quadrangle for visitors, still peeking out from the rear of Xanth's statue. Satisfied she was sufficiently alone, she dropped down onto the grass and skipped around the statue on bare feet, bending to clutch the huge stuffed rabbit around the middle. It was as big as she was and so, so soft against her skin as she cuddled it, grinning happily.

Eyeing the candies and toys, her grin broadened and she sat down in the grassy with her legs crossed and the rabbit still clutched against her. In a flash, the girl and the Easter goodies disappeared from the square, leaving only a few faint wisps of lilac smoke.
