Earth. Sabrina was glad that it was with this element she had bound herself in every possible way too, glad that it was this element that she had been destined for. It was exactly like her, in her own opinion. Usually set on getting her own way, but quite the social butterfly and loyalty could certainly be one of the virtues to her character. The content of her character was certainly suited for Earth, the thing that life basically relied on.

Though inexperienced, Sabs had began to notice a developing weariness when she had not opened herself up to her element, busy with her new life and independence. Especially Eva. Although small, the Lemur was quite the mischief-maker on occasion, but other than that, she was a timid little critter. Now that she was getting used to Sabs, she had started realising her owner's soft spot for her, at the same time shying away less from the Nymph. She was young and had lost her mother to a poacher, but showed no odd behaviour that might be considered a sign of deprivation or unhappiness. Sabs had to be doing something right.

Because Sabrina had never been successful with raising pets. There had been three fish killed in rapid succession, one won from a game on a carnival just outside of town, two bought from the pet shop around the corner from her old house in Bangor. All within a month or so. First there had been Geraldine the goldfish, then Persephone (during the age when she had acquired the one-week Greek mythology fetish) the goldfish, and finally, Frank (from the age when Sinatra had been her newest craze) the goldfish. And all of them had been enough for her to realise that pet-keeping was certainly one of the many unsucessful hobbies she had had in her lifetime.

But maybe it was because Eva was a mammal, cute, cuddly and the thought of her dying was enough for Sabrina's tear ducts to have thoughts of upset. That could be what fuelled the new ability to keep another living creature alive, matterless of her past record of pets. Hopefully, it was. She wasn't complaining about how easily she was bonding with Eva, or how healthy her pet seemed to be.

And now, she had forgotten where the portal was. Eva had fallen asleep, clinging to her owner's side, resting on her hip. Sabs supported her, stroking her fur, chopped pieces of apple in a sandwich bag in her back pocket. They were life-savers, they were. They were the only way she had to - forgive the word - seduce Eva back to her. All afternoon, Sabrina's strength had returned to her, the fatigue from being away from her element disintegrating when she was surrounded by it. And all afternoon, Eva had been climbing trees, escaping Sabrina's desperate hands, only to run back when offered a piece of a rosy red apple.

Sabrina did not at all look how she did when she left the sanctuary. When she had left, she had been dressed neatly with a tan sweater, jeans, wellington boots, raincoat, hat, gloves and scarf. Now she was shivering, hungry, thirsty and tired. It was cold and there was a thin layer of snow in areas where it was permitted to drift down through the canopy. Though the element had disturbed the perfect Earthen nature of the forest, it was still her element, thus it was still there and that was all that mattered.

It would have made sense to have stayed close to the portal, but Eva had led Sabs away. Now, she was debating taking of the four pieces of apple in her back pocket for herself. She turned the idea down. If Eva woke, she would probably have more energy, and need to be brought back by a piece of apple. And what if Sabrina had ran out? Two risky. She unhooked the Lemur's claws from her, and unzipped her coat to position Eva on her chest, and zip it back up so the Lemur was nestled safely in the Nymph's scarf, with her head free. The coat was able to hold her up on Sabrina's chest, but still, she rested one hand protectively on the small furry bump.

Now if only someone would rescue them. Sabrina sat at the base of a tree and exhaled, exasperated and longing to go back to the sanctuary. The snow crunched underneath her as she moved, and there was not a sound. Just the eerie, tense silence that was beginning to get to her. Beginning to make her wonder if she would ever get back to society. Beginning to make her wonder if society still existed. Don't get her wrong, she loved being close to Nature... She was just frightened.

Naava was walking along the path, Stumbling hear and there as she roamed the woods. At least she was finally on a path again. It had been what, 2, 3 hours since she'd met up with those unicorns? Though if Naava had been fearing for her life then, surely she was now terrified of never finding her way home. "It's... so... cold..." She thought, using her arms to shelter herself and cursing her idiocy for wearing naught but a thin wool sweater. Her arms and wings were numb straight through, and if she didn't keep on moving her legs would be next.

At least in this part of the woods the snow was sparse... thought she had no clue how close she was coming to the Chandric Forest. Someone had warned Naava about that place as she'd entered the woods. "Just be careful not to go too far in. If the woods start getting dark, turn and run the other way. Wouldn't want a pretty one like you eaten, would we?" The older man had said, his eyes a devilishly probing finger on her body. Poking and prodding her with stares and glances. "I should've just turned around right then. Dangit. It's so cold..." she moaned once again.

As it was, Naava was unsure of how much daylight was left as what little was able to get through the looming tree branches over head was often concealed by falling snow. "Maybe... maybe I can find some place to hide for shelter. I bet I could get a fire going with some of the fallen branches that are in the dry spots... maybe..." Naava pondered what she could do and scoured her field of vision for anywhere suitable for a person to spend the night. That is, until she tripped and fell over an outstretched root that she hadn't seen due to her lack of attention.

"censored! My ankle! Owww, ow ow owwwww!" the aneyli whined as she tried to at least pull herself up against a tree so that she'd not have to sit on the cold ground. "Stupid tree," she grumbled before slamming her palm down against partially smooth bark in disgruntled anger. "Could this day get much worse?" Naava wondered as shining little tears of mixed aggravation and tiredness formed in her eyes. "I just want to go home... Not that I can even remember where that is!" she wailed, allowing herself to slip into a small bout of well-deserved depression that was at least large enough that she didn't see the stranger that was approaching through the trees on her right.

The air was crisp and sharp in her lungs, a small dagger plunging into them. Her breath condensed before her like an uncoiled white serpent, and snow continued to drift down lazily. As if it had all eternity for Jack Frost to work his magic during the season that neglected the Earth and its life. The Nymph touched the ground and scooped up some of the snow gathered there. She closed her hand into a fist on it, and when she opened it once more, there was a perfect imprint of her fingers on the snow. Just like her, she thought grimly. As pure as the untouched snow on a winter morning.

Silence. Sabrina wondered if anyone would hear her and rescue her if she had brought tap shoes, and used them to tap dance on the grotesque rotting log, with moss growing all over it, on a tree some meters ahead of her gaze. The cold was beginning to bite, she noted. If she didn't get home soon, she would get frostbite. And then what? She didn't want her limbs sawed off, she didn't want to lose her use of them. Frostbite was a tricky foe, but she could counter it if she got into the warmth. And of course, she worried about the ever encroaching darkness of nightfall. How long until she was plunged into darkness, with only the light of the moon to guide her? Surely Xanth wouldn't let that happen to her... even if Sabs had given her offering to a little girl who had found the bracelet intriguing.

Despite the potentiality that she would be stuck out there until she found her way back or a traveller stumbled upon the lost fair maiden, what Sabrina wanted was a fluffy pillow. It was one of her tendencies when she was panicked or miserable, for she seemed to find comfort in the soft fibres. It didn't have to be opulent or decorative, just soft, comforting, and altogether reassuring. Reassuring her that she was still sane and had her normal habits. Although, there would not be many people in their right mind who would call a young adult who pined for fluffy pillows when she was upset or panicky, sane.

Sounds! They pierced the eerie, still forest air, and made Sabrina alert. She huddled further into her jacket and bundled Eva up in the scarf, stil keeping her close to her chest. She stood to her feet and followed the sounds... like wails of distress, they sounded like. Sabs walked slowly and exhaled, her breath coiling up into the air. The distressed wails did not cease, so she assumed that someone was just as lost as she was. Great. Just when her chances of getting out this forest seemed to be good.

The person who was making the sounds came into view. Holding Eva closely, defensively, Sabrina blinked at the woman making the sounds. Maybe she was lost, too... The Nymph approached slowly so as not to alarm the Anyelos, her hands on the Lemur inside her coat. "Excuse me?" she called out timidly, her footsteps light and slow. "Excuse me, are you okay?"

It was an odd thing. The more Naava moped, the more her depression turned into anger. She began to get angry at things that made no sense. From being mad at the forest for 'getting' her lost, to the Unicorns for getting her lost, and it all felt so... foreign. Like feeling something through a plastic bag. You can sort of understand what it is, but it's beyond you to understand it fully. Yet, at the same time as all of that, it felt so natural to her--and that scared the girl. It felt so... violent, but so normal. What was wrong with her? Was anything even wrong with her at all?

Rubbing her ankle, Naava missed the numbness she'd felt in her arms not long ago. It appeared as if her limbs weren't actually numb at all though, just very close to it. The mixture of walking and the cold was doing her in. "Not like I'll be doing much more of that any time soon," Naava grumbled to herself as she persisted in rubbing her very sore ankle. It was true though, she wouldn't be walking much of anywhere with an injury in this weather. She needed to find shelter, and fast.

That's when Naava heard the voice coming from her side. Jolting abruptly from the suddenness of the sound, Naava used one arm to steady herself against the tree as the other clutched her chest. Turning to see it was another person, another woman in fact, Naava felt her heart begin to beat again as she tried to slow her breathing. "You scared me half to death!" Naava exclaimed as she tried to turn herself towards the newcomer. Looking at her face, Naava was immediately stunned by her beauty and quickly found herself slightly jealous of the girl. "She's prettier than me...." Naava thought as she looked at the possible help.

"No... no I don't think I'm alright. I wrenched my ankle." Naava said, a grimace playing on her face as she turned it back to the leg that was bent up into her lap. It wasn't swelling, probably because of the cold temperatures around her, but she was sure she'd hurt herself bad enough to make walking out of here pointless. "And... I'm kind of lost..." the Anyeli tagged on to her sentence, letting it trail off at the end as a harsh gust blew at the pair from behind Naava, blowing her hair raggedly before it stopped. "Ugh! I can't take this weather!" she shouted, "I don't suppose you know the way back to the portal, do you? Or maybe at least where I can get some shelter?"

The morning had started off pleasantly, with the forest seeming to be quiet pleasant and welcoming, but now, Sabrina wasn't so sure. She was sure the portal was somewhere to the West of her current position, that was the direction in which she had walked from, and she was sure that she had never changed the direction. So if she continued to walk in one direction, she could've surely reached it... right?

But of course, that might not work. Sabrina had no skills whatsoever in orinteering and find her way around. In the sixth grade, they had went to a camp during the spring, and of the outdoor activities, she had came last in orienteering. Not that she had performed well in any of the other activities they had organised, but finding her way around a forest - not to mention on her own - had been a nightmare. She'd returned to the leader, who had been in the lounge, nearly half an hour after the last person to return. No trophies for her from that experience.

Unsurely, she surveyed the angel with hesitant, indecisive eyes. "I..." Sabrina began to speak and cut herself off. She chose, reluctantly, to continue, but not without hesitance. "If you want to get back to the portal, I think I know which way it is, but I could support you and I could help you get to a hospital." She smiled, but even so it was a timid smile. "I'm lost too, but I'm sure I could get us back."

No, she wasn't sure at all to be perfectly honest. But seeing the woman there was causing Sabrina to become concerned and she wasn't entirely convinced that she should tell the truth. Or leave her there. Either way, it wasn't looking too good. But on the bright side, she wouldn't go insane, instead she'd have a companion to help her cling onto her sanity. If the woman accepted her offer.

(Ooc: I don't plan to intrude, but kind of needed to stick him somewhere before he got booted into retirement. Feel free to ignore me if you wish)

The past month had been hell. He'd hurt his lifemate, and chose the wrong path, nearly killing an innocent man in the process. As he'd tasted blood, it consumed him to the point where his dragonic instincts took over, and there was hardly human compassion left inside. He hated himself for it, and hated himself even worse for what he was doing to Dazadi. She'd been trying so hard, and for some reason, he'd turned hi back on her. He'd be lying if he said he knew why. Kade simply just, was feeling something he couldn't get a grasp on. Something that could very well have ruined his relationship with Dazadi forever.

Having left Elysia for Nirim, he'd spent his entire time deep in training with Lia. Luna had only served as messenger to let him know how Dazai was holding up, but even then it was brief interaction before he sent the imp away. Each time she had returned, she was more cold, and more distant. It had been over a week since he'd heard from her now, and though he wasn't worried, it was upsetting to know that he was cutting himself off from the world around him. Lia only knew of battles, and it was all Kade could give her.

Beating his large leathery wings against the air, Kade thrust forward in a slow motion, soaring above the trees of the fae forest. He'd come back to Elysia, finally ready to face... whatever it was that had him so afraid... but he couldn't go directly to Dazadi. His stomach was churning of the thought of seeing her upset. And he knew she would be upset. Closing his eyes as he sucked in a deep breath, Kade angled his body slightly, finding himself passing over a pair of nymphs below. Hardly noticing them, if he even noticed at all, Kade turned in the air, his large dragonic form creating slow circles above the two.

Naava looked at the girl as she responded hesitantly and suddenly felt very foolish. "I'm sorry..." she said, smoothing her hair behind her ear as she looked away. "I didn't mean to... to snap like that," she continued, her hand returning to her ankle to continue to rub it. Why did she have such a low tolerance for pain? It didn't feel... right to have things hurt this much. Though, she didn't really have any memories to compare it to. It was possible that this was in fact a very bad injury and Naava just didn't know it. Though the way it was already beginning to swell did lend one to believe that it was worse than what met the eye.

"Honestly, I don't know that I'll be able to make it very far even with your support," Naava said, looking up into the face of the stranger with what she hoped was an encouraging smile. "It's a long story... but my wings are sort of putting me off balance," Naava's words were timid, but not forced. Her typical distrusting nature was nowhere to be seen as she continued to live without her memory. Looking at the girl, Naava noticed a small furry head coming out from the top of the woman's coat and for the first time noticed the irregular shape that held the girl's form. "Besides... it looks like you've already got someone to carry." Naava said with a giggle as she looked at the furry creature's little head.

"Perhaps if we..." Naava began to speak again, but stopped suddenly as the air above them altered, causing her to look up through a small clearing in the trees. "Holy censored! What is that?!" She shrieked, finding herself sliding backwards into the woods the best she could. Whatever that creature was, it was surely large enough to eat her in a single bite, and for some reason Naava didn't get the feeling that it would be very cuddly if it saw them there. It's large black wings beat the air brutally as it turned in the sky, terrifying the young half-breed so that her already pale skin lost it's barely remaining color as the blood rushed from her face.

There had been a similar incident when Sabrina had been twelve, and she had to admit that supporting people with injuries on the way home was hard, for someone as small as she. It had been on one of the farmer's fields - the one with the rice gun, she was sure - and she had had to form a temporary alliance with someone who enjoyed picking on her the majority of the time. While she herself had had nothing against the girl, the girl had obviously had something against her. A great beast of a twelve year old, she had nearly crushed Sabs when the Nymph had found her with a shard of glass in her shin. Crying, too. Of course, as soon as she'd got the girl back home, she'd received a punch on the back for her trouble. Either that had been her way of expressing gratitude, or she was back to her old self. The latter seemed more obvious, seeing as the next day, Sabrina had 'lost' her bike. Or the bully just took it.

But the trials when you're a child shouldn't be as awkward as when you're an adult. Of course, Sabrina begged to differ. She had received more problems and conundrums when she was living in Bangor; in Elysia everything was just weird. On Earth it seemed she was a magnet for everything in need of help or violent within a twenty mile radius. In Elysia it seemed she was able to handle everything so much better. She'd met a few people who were nice enough, and it wasn't all bad. Just abnormal. Terribly abnormal. But she supped Elysians had a much different concept of abnormal.

With the woman's rejection, Sabrina shrugged her shoulders and took a step back. Well it escaped her how she was going to help the angel, then. She could see flaws, but with a little determination and some help from the injured they could probably get there. Nevermind. She'd go find the portal herself if the Anyelos refused her help. Although always willing to help, Sabrina was stubborn and if people didn't want her help, she wouldn't give them it. Simple as.

To her gesture toward Eva, Sabrina flushed and nodded awkwardly, huddling further into the warmth of her jacket. "Well, yes, but..." she trailed off and glanced briefly, at what she considered to be East and the way to the portal hopefully, left. She was unsure as to whether her terrible orienteering skills would get her home, but it was worth a try. Sabs was hungry, cold and tired. What she wanted now was a nice, warm cup of hot chocolate. And soup. And...

No need to make herself pine more to be home.

Sabrina opened her mouth to say something, and shut it again just as quickly. "Holy censored! What is that?!" She exhaled deeply and without looking at what the Anyelos was talking about, made sure Eva didn't wake up. The Lemur simply twitched and her ears flicked, probably in annoyance. But at least she was still asleep. She was probably worn out from making her owner chase after her and climbing up trees, and escaping the Nymph's despertate clutches, and being flighty... Sabs took one look at what all of the commotion was about and instinctively held the Lemur closer. Her eyes fixed on the circling beast. She squeaked quietly and took a few steps forward, intrigued.

"I'm pretty sure it's just an over-sized lizard with wins that probably breathes fire." Sabrina purposely refrained from using the word 'dragon'. That might be inaccurate, seeing as Loranth was a dragon and she wasn't four hundred pounds of scale, wings, fangs and muscle. "Look, would you be able to fly, then? I want to get back to the portal, and I think I have a vague sense of the direction it's in." Her voice was weary, signs that her first priority was to possibly get herself warm, and something to eat.

Eyes fixed on the sky, Naava's breath caught in her chest as she saw the great beast. Ignorant of Sabrina's carefree attitude, Naava continued to creep along the ground as silently as possible. "I... I don't care how we get out of here..." the Anyelos whispered as she practically crab-walked further into the forest. "As... long as we... ge--ow!" Naava Makani's words were cut off as she suddenly felt her hand slip on the icy ground. Smashing to the floor, Naava heard and felt a small vial shatter against her leg. "Wha.... what the censored?" She mumbled as she winced at the painful feeling of glass in her leg.

Pushing herself up again, Naava reached her hand down and lifted her long skirt up to her thighs to reveal a leather strap on the leg opposite of her twisted ankle holding four glistening bottles. "I... I am such an idiot," the young woman thought as she recognized the bottles that she'd been found with. Pulling one from the snug strap, Naava winced as she brushed away a small shard of glass that was stuck in her soft skin. Now she realized why they'd still been in that little box, instead of in the leg strap. Well, hopefully the box is still in my bag, she thought, hoping that she could return them there after this ordeal. But as for now, she might just have found her salvation.

Bringing the small vial to her teeth, Naava pulled out the snug cork and paused for a moment. "Let's hope that label was right, she thought to herself as she balled up all her courage and downed what she hoped to be a healing potion. The pinkish-purple liquid tasted horrible and it burned her mouth like overly spicy food. For a moment or too Naava felt as if she were going to be sick until almost all at once the disgusting churn of her stomach ceased; and after a while she noticed her leg and ankle had both ceased hurting as well. "Huh," the half-breed said softly to herself as she looked over her leg that, mere moments ago, had been a small patch of blood and ripped skin, but was now perfectly pale and smooth as if nothing had happened at all.

Looking back up to the girl, Naava caught sight of the draconic beast circling in the sky. She might be healed now, but she was still deathly cold. "I don't think I could fly the both of us much of anywhere at all really, besides, with that thing up there I think flying would be a bad idea right now," she said shyly, embarrassed by her uncontrolled emotions. "I... I'm sorry, you know, about freaking out. It's just been a very long day..." Naava's voice trailed off a bit towards the end. "But... If you know which way to go... would you mind if we travelled together?" she asked, a tinge of hope play on her voice and in her eyes.

Naava grumbled as she walked along. She'd HAD to fall down an iced-up bank again, didn't she? Oh it was all just too much. She was ready for the day to be over. She was ready to go back to her flat at the mountains and just sleep. Sleep for like.... a week. She didn't think she'd ever done so much walking in a single day, not that she could remember past more than a few days ago.

As she walked, Naava wondered what happened to that girl who'd tried to help her. Hopefully she'd make it back alright, as well. Not that Naava was back yet, but she knew she would be. That last slide down the hill had put her out near the large river again, and thankfully she'd not hurt herself at all this time. She had, however, been walking along the river for nearly an hour already, though, and it was really getting dark now.

Cringing a bit at the thought of being lost out here in the cold all by herself at night, Naava began to walk a bit more quickly, trying to use her shadow controlling abilities to force away the shadows and maybe cause some more light. Not that the attempt worked, but it gave her a bit of courage to think that she might have a bit more control over her situation then she really did.

About a quarter of a mile later, she saw her snow-dusting covered footprints and screamed nearly loud enough to cause an avalanche all the way on the peaks of the griffin mountains. Within the hour Naava had run the list mile or so, even in the cold, and was thankful to finally reach the portal and head towards her salvation. Now to just get inside the towers of the peak and warm up...
