Cal frowned, worried, when Isabel mentioned that plants were protecting this Chloris, not just animals. He’d been assuming that they were talking about trained guard animals of some description, and, well, however well-trained they were, if their owner was paralyzed she wasn’t feeding them – they might have been able to give them dosed food and get them painlessly and safely asleep. It’d take a little while, but it wouldn’t be half as dangerous for either them or the animals as trying to capture them would be. But, if the plants were attacking too, something more complicated was at work, and he really couldn’t be sure what was motivating the animals… He gave Isabel a worried smile in return to hers... And then turned, surprised, as Vyon walked up to them, seemingly completely healed. That was quick! I'm glad they patched him up so completely. Xanth knows he wasn't going to keep still and heal the slow way... He smiled at Vyon, and then examined the list Vyon was holding up, as he and Isabel made their introductions, and Isabel explained where Piper had gone.

"Did you want to go to this shop first, Vyon? I've never heard of it before" He continued to eye the list, hoping, very much, that nothing on it was terribly heavy – and wondering if he was really going to be any help at all on this rescue mission...

Vyon took Isabel's hand desperately wishing he could look as boring and mundane as possible while still friendly and agreeable. As he smiled gently back at her to ease her shyness he knew it was an impossible ask, defied by his nature yet again, not to mention the fact that his clothes were hanging off him, exposing more of his body than was completely necessary.

Of course Vyon had completely forgotten about his bleeding ragged clothes, ripped as they were, and even if he had noticed he wouldn't have thought about changing them at a time like this, despite the fact that it would be sensible to do so before treking into the forest. He'd had a pack at one point too, but that must have been stripped of him by the plants when he was making his escape, or did he just dump it on the ground when he saw Chloris was in trouble, before running over to her and getting in even more trouble himself. A pack would actually be pretty useful now to collect all these ingredients, he thought to himself, not to mention a mortar and pestel to grind them into a paste.

"Did you want to go to this shop first, Vyon? I've never heard of it before."

Yeah that was probably the best idea, he thought as he looked toward Cal, could probably get a mortor and pestel there as well, perhaps even a bag. And in fact, it dawned on him that the more ingredients they could get at the shop the less time they would have to spend hunting for them in the Fae Forest.

"Good idea," he replied, "we can get a bunch of stuff there first before heading into the forest." Then thinking on it some more he added, "Anyone know how to get in touch with Piper so we can meet up, or should one of us stay here and tell her to meet at the portal?"

"No need," Cal replied to Vyon with a smile, "Piper already said she'd meet back up with us at the Portal when we're done." As long as she beat them back to the portal, it was a smart decision - If Vyon got there first, though, Cal wasn't sure he'd be able to convince him to continue to wait around. Whoever this Chloris person was, Vyon was incredibly single-minded in his focus on rescuing her...

He didn't feel too sore now. Tired, certainly, but the rest in the waiting room had revived him enough to go back out. Just as long as no one asked him to carry anything Vyon-sized again for a couple of days. He turned towards the door, and looked back to Vyon & Isabel "'Shall we?"
