Amlai sighed heavily as she gently pushed the door open. As soon as she entered the cafe, she sighed again, but with relief. It felt nice to be inside a building for once, rather than sleeping on the streets after she left her foster family. Amlai quickly darted her eyes around the room, before deciding she would buy something to eat before asking for a room.
She adjusted her shoulder bag and steadily made her way through the mix of different scents. She admired the lovely decorating before sitting down at a table in the furthest away corner in the dark. Carefully she took out her sketch pad and pens, laying them in a neat pile, whilst deciding what to get.
"What should I get? Nothing to expensive.. just a light snack."
Amlai stood up, flattened her blouse and strode up to the counter where the server was waiting for a customer. "Could I get a.. cheese panini and a glass of tap water please?" Amlai sighed and rubbed her eyes. She wasn't getting much sleep due to being on the streets, so she probably did look more like a vampire than she usually did. Amlai wished her life could take a turn for the better. Maybe meet some friends.. earn money.. anything to make her less.. dull. Amlai would even drink blood for her life to get better.
Amlai snapped out of her hopeless wishes and took the tray with her order on it, whilst counting the money and placing it into the servers hand. She turned round and made her way back to her table with the food - and her life - literally resting on one hand.
