Erasmus kept smiling, his smile becoming more sincere than mischievous as he watched Xanth walk away, turning his back on her as she spoke.

" I never knock."

Erasmus tongued his cheek, strolling through the market as he once more put his hands back into his pockets, rejoining the rest of New Alexandria as Xanth disappeared, he himself soon becoming engulfed in the usual crowd that populated the marketplace. He was not so blind that he couldn’t see he had at least piqued her curiosity.

He just hoped she didn’t end up watching him during something inappropriate.

No, she would never stoop to something so low!

Would she?

Erasmus cast such thoughts out of his mind as he rounded a corner, his apartment only a ten minute walk away. He enjoyed walking the streets; it gave him time to think and reflect, losing himself in contemplation and introspection as he flowed through the city’s lifelines, just one more member of the haystack that was known as Elysia.

Erasmus just so happened to be a needle, was all.

Stopping to lean on the corner of a particularly old building with its ornate antiquated architecture, looking back at the statue which stood there as always. Erasmus almost spoke, but he didn’t want to ruin the moment. Instead he let his feet carry him home, the statue soon moving out of sight.
