Today had not been easy. First she'd overslept by half an hour, and because she was still without employees, she'd arrived to a shop full of whining animals wanting food and needing to go to the bathroom. It was not something that she had enjoyed doing, and she vowed to get up earlier from now on.

She'd barely had time to shower, and was running around the shop, one converse tied, the other one not, waiting for her to trip. She had thrown on some black pants and a backless shirt; they where all that wasnt in her dirty clothes bin. She really had to talk to Eramus about who got laundry duty.

One of the falcons had gotten out of its cage, and no matter how many times it had been put back in, it found its way out, and exasperated, she'd finally let it fly around the shop, putting out a perch for it by the register infront of the warm air return. Today it was flying near her, ready to dive for her hand should she grab bird food.

"What am I gonna do with you?" She asked, running a hand fondly along the birds back, which was rewarded with a nip to her fingers. "Ouch!" Ignoring the pinpricks of blood, she jumped over the counter, pulling on her apron before flipping the shop sign to OPEN and winding up a toy for the falcon. It would run around the shop, keeping it busy and hopefully away from visitors, giving her the appearance of more control.

Ares had been traveling around Elysia...Alone. The only time he has seen a person is when he was drinking their blood. His longsword was at his side and his shield was on his back. He walked a lone, as usual, into a pet shop. Ares had never really had a pet, and he doubt he wanted to buy one, he could barely take care of himself, but he did want to see what the shop had. Ares sighed as he entered the shop. It was much cooler inside then it was outside in the summer heat. Ares looked around and shook off his cloths, which were rather nice. He moved around, keeping to himself before he heard a whoosh and ducked just before a bird passed above him. Ares looked to his right and then to his left. “"What the hell?"” he cried and then turned to look at the manager almost laughing.“"That thing almost took my head off...I'm Ares Jahoon..."” he said with a nod and he extended his hand. That was really all he was going to tell her about himself...He doesn't want anyone to know his true race. “"Wild shop you have here."” he said looking around with a smile.

Lani had just been getting into a routine - give the canines food, then the felines, rotate feedings around the store, rotate cleanings around the store, and by the time she was done cleaning it was time for feeding again. She sighed. There was no way she could handle customers AND this. It was all too much.

The bell rang. announcing a customer, and she pryed herself away from the work that needed to be done, turning around with a pasted on smile on her face when..."OH MY XANTH! FRIGHTFUL GET AWAY FROM HIM!" She then turned to the customer -Ares - with an apoligetic look, hardly noticing that she'd named the bird while yelling at it. Her thoughts had become a mantra of pleasedontsuemepleasedontsuemepleasedontsueme.

Turns out lady luck was on her side as the man found it amusing, laughing and putting his hand for her to shake. Gratefully, she shook it. "Lani Pavel, how may I help you?" Now that the atmosphere wasnt as tense, she was able to relax slightly.

Her senses picked up the faint tang of blood, and a almost dusty, ageless scent that she had come to realize as vampire. The teeth that she caught a glimpse of finished this spectulation. "A bat perhaps?" She joked, a easygoing smile on her face.

(ooc: emms, tell me if the therian thing is incorrect. You said she'd be able to tell pretty much anyones species.)

"OH MY XANTH! FRIGHTFUL GET AWAY FROM HIM!"

Ares chuckled again when the shop lady yelled at the wild falcon. Ares raised his hands in a gesture to say it was okay. Ares knew the bird didn't know better, and it would take a lot more then that to make him mad. Ares had a long fuse and he wasn't angered easily because he was scared of his own self whenever he is angry. Ares is too outgoing to have a short fuse and flare up every time someone says the wrong thing or looks at him the wrong way. He smiled at the shops manager, who was a beautiful young lady. Was it just Ares, or all the girls he has been meeting beautiful? He was wondering that to himself as he shook his head and laughed.“It is fine. Its a fine bird, that I had a pleasure of ducking from.” he said with a smile and a nod.

"Lani Pavel, how may I help you?"

Ares really didn't need any help. He was just spending this day looking around shops and other stuff. He wasn't going to spend no money, he had told himself earlier. He was just looking around at all these animals...All these beautiful animals that he could afford. He looked around before answering her question and asked himself a question...Does he need help after all? He stood there for a moment and wondered if he could manage a pet. He had a hard time managing himself, but he was always alone and he could always use some company from a animal of some sorts. But then again, how was he going to keep the animal clean and not sick...He decided he would wait for a house and then he will get an animal.“Mmm...No not really, just looking around ya know. Hows been business? I bet you make a killing off of this place aye? But no...I'm just looking. I...I can't handle another person to take care of other then myself.”

"A bat perhaps?"

Ares looked at her curiously. What did she mean? He looked around and then figured it out. She found out he was a vampire. He frowned and looked at her. He hope she didn't feel any differently about him because he was a vampire, but she didn't seem like it. He shook his head and returned her a easy going smile.“No. Believe it or not I don't like bats. Or anything that drinks blood...other then my race. I can't believe you have nothing against my race...Most people do. A beautiful girl like you, it would be horrible if you didn't like my race and kicked me out, because I'm enjoying our conversation.”

Lani smiled at Ares, glad that he was able to enjoy Frightful. And also very glad that he wasnt going to sue the pants off of her, because right now she really needed the shop to be doing well to get things such as food and clothing. And now that she thought about it, Frightful really was a beautiful bird. She shook her head, getting rid of the thought. She wasnt sure if she wanted to keep the bird yet.

Hrrrmmm, couldnt really take care of anything other then himself? "Well, something that really requires little to no effort are fish and mice. All you need is a filter and a wheel," she paused and smiled "Respective to the animal of course."

Hearing his own putdown she frowned. She knew that there was prejudice against Vampire's in Elysia, but she thought that it had gotten better. If one of there own kind couldnt seem to accept himself, it must be worse than she thought. "I'm sorry if I offended you, and its no issue whatsoever. I do not discrimite based on species, its rather barbaric. And I'm enjoying it too."
