Skills can only be used in threads that start after they've been confirmed, so I'm afraid not. Basic Training is a broad category, so I put Martial Arts rather than Jiu Jitsu. He'll be able to specialise in that if you upgrade Combat later (though in this kind of instance, the 'broad range' thing doesn't work as well as with weapons...
)
Anyway, all upgrades are confirmed up to now.
