Alexshire

Alexshire is a city-state straddling the River Cora. It is made up of the City of Alexandria, a couple of hamlets, and 300 square miles of farmland. The rich district (known as New Alexandria) houses some 5,000 of the city's wealthiest merchants and officials, and was built around Elysia's main portal.

Max took his side of the bin and was surprised at how light it was. Then again, he supposed if your bulk comprised mainly of fire, it wouldn't be all that heavy. Aiden seemed to realise Max was ready to go, and although awkwardly for the first few steps, as Max lengthened his stride to match Aiden's, the two set off back towards the guard station. As Max's makeshift bandage flapped in the light wind, he remembered Aiden had asked about it. Now the adrenaline had finished pumping through his veins, the burn on his arm was beginning to sting and throb, but it was nothing a bottle of savlon and a bit of self-pity later wouldn't cure. For the moment he was willing to be a man and take it; one small burn wasn't exactly a big price to pay for a recaptured firefox, that could have caused a lot of damage.

“It'll be fine, not likely to cause me any problems unless it gets infected, but I'm generally good at keeping these things clean.” Max said with a smile, pleased with Aiden's genuine concern. It was nice to be back around people he knew and liked, and most importantly trusted. He'd thrown himself at the fox, like an idiot, but like an idiot who knew that his colleague had his back, and that was something Max hadn't really felt before. It was nice, like having a hot drink on a cold winter's day.

“Anyway, how does a thing like this get out onto the streets?” Max asked, wondering who'd been irresponsible enough to allow a potentially dangerous beastie to wander about the streets unsupervised. This fox had been worried enough by Aiden and Max just trying to round it up; if a group of youngsters had taken a curiosity and poked it with a stick, this slightly funny event could have been a tragedy.

“I mean, I'm a big brave boy, I can deal with the pain, but the general public...” Lucas tailed off, as he saw the guard station in sight.

OOC: The GModding is fine :) Hope mine is too - I changed police department to guard station since it seems to fit the job description more accurately?

Hearing Max, Aiden nodded and was convinced that the burn would be fine. Max was one of the best doctors that Aiden knew, so Aiden believed it when Max said that the wound would be okay. He still felt guilty though, as if Max's burn was partly his fault.

His own hand had been burnt too. The redness had disappeared in some areas, but Aiden felt and saw the blisters that had formed along the sides of his left wrist, thumb and pointer finger. Even now the pain of the injury bothered him, but he tried not to think so much about it as he answered Max's question with a shrug. “These things never get in here from the wild on their own. I'm guessing that somebody bought it as a pet and didn't keep an eye on it.” He scoffed, “Whoever it is, they deserve a hefty fine.” Personally, Aiden thought little of people who bought animals that were 'cute', but fail to take care of them---especially when those animals were potentially dangerous and lived in the city.

As they approached the guard station, Aiden lifted the bin higher, rotated until his back was toward the entrance, and climbed the stairs. When they got into the building, Aiden slowly set the bin onto the ground before turning to the nearest officer that was in the building. “Do we have any reports on a missing firefox?” He pointed at the bin. “We captured this one in an alley near Ninth Street. By the way, Officer Max needs to get his burn treated.”

Max followed Aiden into the building, feeling a little bit like the second part of a pantomime donkey costume. He was glad to put the can down when they reached the office, so he could take another peek at his arm. He nodded when Aiden mentioned that he needed to get his burn treated. He looked around and found the compulsory First Aid kit attached to the wall of the office, and took it down, rooting through the green box for a moment. Removing a couple of items, Max moved over to the sink in the office's kitchenette, and ran his arm under the cold tap, wincing a little as he did so. After he was confident the burn was clean, he took the bandage from the kit, along with a gauze, and applied them both quickly and efficiently. He smiled.

“I knew that past life as a doctor would come in handy at some point...do you want me to take a look at yours Aiden?” He asked, discarding the wrappers into the bin and returning to where the bin sat, looking rather out of place in the middle of the carpet. The firefox wasn't making any noise inside, but Max didn't fancy sticking his head inside to make sure the thing was okay. Not that it wasn't cute, he just valued having eyebrows.

“What do we do with the fox now then?” He continued, figuring Aiden could ask for his help if he needed it. He wasn't aware of the procedure when it came to impounded animals. He personally didn't fancy seeing it going back to it's previous owner, since whoever it was had apparently been irresponsible enough to let it get out.
