Alexshire

Alexshire is a city-state straddling the River Cora. It is made up of the City of Alexandria, a couple of hamlets, and 300 square miles of farmland. The early morning sunshine streamed through the dusty windows of her shop, giving the room an almost ethereal glow. While the windows were dirty, the shop itself was spotless. Two low cots sat in one corner, blankets neatly folded next to pillows on the thin mattresses. The walls were lined with shelves, filled with a variety of objects, from books to baskets of herbs to jars of salve and other concoctions. From the rafters hung bunches of drying herbs, which filled the room with their potent scent. There was a work desk in one corner of the room, a spiral staircase leading to the second floor in another, and a long table with several chairs stood in the middle of the room.

It was at this table that Lyra sat, quietly grinding herbs with her mortar and pestle. She added a sprinkle more dried chamomile and a few leaves of goldenseal to the bowl, mashing them together into a fine paste that could be used any manner of cut or scrape to help guard against infection and to relieve pain. It was the most common poultice she made, and one of the most popular in her shop. A few more good grinds with the pestle and she declared it done. Pulling a slim wooden spatula out of the bucket of sanitizer on the table, she scraped the paste out of the bowl of the mortar and slid it into the small jar she had sitting on the table waiting for it.

She spent a few minutes ensuring she had every last bit of paste in the jar, then screwed the lid on and placed in on a shelf next to a dozen identical jars, all filled with the same dark green paste. She needed to make two more to meet her quota for the day, so she walked over to the large chest in the corner to the left of the door, unlatched it, and swung it open. The inside was neatly compartmentalized by thin sheets of wood held in place only by friction and pressure against the sides of the chest.

The compartment that was supposed to hold a neat stack of jars and lids was empty. Glaringly so. How had she forgotten to buy more? She glared down at the small empty square, as if she could cause it to fill itself just by force of will. It remained stubbornly empty. Heaving a sigh, she realized the inevitable. She needed to go shopping. At the thought, though, her spirits lifted. After all, it was a chance to go out into the city, and she loved being around people!

Moving with new energy, she flitted around the room, packing her wallet and other necessities into her shoulder bag. She jogged up the stairs to check herself in the mirror. There was a smudge on her nose which she quickly scrubbed away, and her hair was coming out of her braid, so she simply took it down and brushed it out, letting it fall in blonde waves past her shoulders. As usual, she wore a simple outfit - a long sleeved light blue shirt paired with a floaty white skirt and sensible flats. In the dim light of her bathroom, her eyes appeared brown, but she knew that in the sunlight they would gleam green around her slit 'Vari pupils. Finally satisfied that she appeared presentable, she scurried back down the stairs and threw open her front door, taking a deep breath of the crisp autumn air, tinged with the scents of the city, but mostly the overwhelming smell of the flowers and herbs growing in the pots covering her front porch. It was difficult to have a garden in the middle of the city, but somehow Lyra managed it.

She plucked a leaf from her aloe plant, bruised it, and smoothed the juice over her cheeks and neck like a lotion. Protection from the sun plus an exfoliating effect on the skin, and a more than pleasant scent. Thus prepared, she set off down the street in the direction of the main market, including the glassblower she frequented. As she walked, she people-watched - her favorite hobby after gardening - keeping an eye out for anyone new or particularly interesting.

Continued from Here

Zara stepped out of the portal into the now bustling streets of the New Alexandria, the one bad part about moving into this city is that she still didn't know exactly where everything was and so finding a healer was a bit difficult. As she passed through the crowd she kept getting funny looks from others, her temper was slowly rising not only from some looks but also from the fact that she couldn't move as fast as she would like to be moving and no one was getting out of her way when it was obvious she needed to get through and the anyeli she was carrying was in need of some medical attention. As she passed people by she stared up at the signs above the shops and looked at the people around her with her luck she would pass by a Peacekeeper and this mess would be over with. It was luck for her she had been watching people at the moment she spotted her, her green slitted eyes were a dead give away it was obvious that she was a Viridis, though even if she hadn't have caught the eyes Zara was positive that she was a healer due to the basket of potted plants she was carrying, she recognized some of them as plants her mother and grandmother used to use at home when she and her brothers ever came home with superficial scratches and bruises, that were not really worth healing.

Zara took off in a quick trot toward the woman she looked about her age but not as short, being unable to grab her for fear of dropping the guy in her arms she yelled at her about halfway to her from the other side of the street. “Hey you Viridis, I need your help I found this guy in the coliseum I think he needs some medical attention.” The amount of stares she got for yelling that pushed her temper a bit over the edge and she yelled out to the crowd “What?! have yall never seen an injured person being carried by a short person before?? There's nothing to see here go about your business!”, She gave a leering glare to any of the Vari around that she wasn't addressing and continued to trot after the one she Viridis girl she needed.

Although the glassblower had been Lyra's first stop, it had been far from her last. Succumbing to her usual addiction to shopping, she let herself visit her favorite greenhouse to browse the selection of new plants. Of course, she hadn't left empty handed. Her bag ended up filled almost to overflowing with half a dozen new seedlings, a new brand of fertilizer that caught her eye, and a set of assorted packets of dried herbs that were nearly impossible to grow in the climate of New Alexandria.

After a few hours of shopping, she finally managed to drag herself away from the shinies and head towards her home. She was almost there when a loud voice sounded over the noise of the crowd.

“Hey you Viridis, I need your help I found this guy in the coliseum I think he needs some medical attention.”

She ignored it at first, but when the same voice yelled at the crowd she spared a glance behind her. What she saw brought her up short. A diminutive Rutilus 'Vari staggering under the weight of an unconscious Anyeli. Not exactly a usual sight in the streets of New Alexandria, but one that sent her healer's instinct into overdrive.

"What happened to the poor thing? Here, let me help..." She took hold of the injured Anyeli's feet and lifted them, taking as much of his weight as she could handle. "My shop is right over there. If we get him inside, I can help him!"

Zara laughed inside as some of the individuals who she leered at took an unwilling step backward, but now wasn't the time to let pride distract her from the task at hand. After she finished glaring about she looked back toward the Viridis who had finally stopped long enough to give her a glance. She stumbled slightly she had been carrying this anyeli for near an hour even with her strength and training it was starting to make her muscles ache from carrying him. Thankfully she came over immediately and started helping by grabbing the anyeli's legs. “"What happened to the poor thing? Here, let me help...My shop is right over there. If we get him inside, I can help him!"” Nodding quietly Zara moves with the other Vari to her shop repositioning herself a bit so that she could more steadily hold the anyeli in her arms. As soon as they reached the shop Zara waited for the woman to open the door. “I'll answer your questions and introduce my self properly in a minute, but first I need to get him in a stable spot and take care of him. ” As the woman opened the door to the shop Zara inhaled deeply as they crossed the threshold of the room. It smelled like the greenhouse back at her parents place. Hell it even looked like it in a way at least the way the windows had that same dusty feel to them like back home. Plants literally surrounded the place some of which she recognized others that she didn't. For a moment she stood in awe about the place. Shaking herself out of her memories she glanced over at the other Vari, “Ummm where would you like me to put him, I'm pretty sure we need to make this process quick when I found him it seemed like he had been out for awhile.”

Lyra kicked the door open with her foot, letting her bag slide off her shoulder onto the floor while still keeping a grip on the Anyeli's feet. It was a tricky operation, but she managed it with relative ease. She heard a worrying clank as it landed, and made a mental note to check her jars for cracks later. Now, though, she had more important things to do.

"He'll be fine on the cot here for now," she answered, shoving the folded blanket aside so they could lay him down. She fluffed the pillow and tucked it carefully beneath his head to support his neck. Once she was sure he was comfortably positioned on the cot, she pulled up a chair and began to examine his injuries.

"If you wouldn't mind, could you grab me a roll of bandages from that drawer, and one of each jar off that shelf," She pointed to the corresponding drawer and shelf on each "that."

While she waited, she laid her hands gently on her patient's chest and focused inward on the healing talent of the Viridis. She was not very strong in the ways of the healers yet, but she could at least alleviate some of his pain. She took a long, slow breath, drawing away as many minor scratches and bruises as she could. She couldn't help but wince, feeling her own skin split in places, and bruises form on her arms and back. It felt like she'd been beat up.

Leaning back in her chair, she sighed wearily. closing her eyes to let the pain flow out of her, breathing deeply in the way her mother had taught her, waiting for the other 'Vari girl to bring her the supplies she'd requested.

Moving with the other Vari she helped position the Anyeli on the cot making sure his wings were relatively folded in a manner that she hoped wouldn't cause him any injury. Doing as directed Zara walked over to the drawer and pulled out the bandages, and then to the shelf to pick up the jar. Just as she finished gathering the items she turned back to see the Viridis leaning over the Anyeli already at work, she watched as some of the scratches and bruises faded away as if they were never there. She winced at the thought of knowing that in return for healing this Anyeli, this Vari was taking on the damage to herself. When the woman finally leaned back in her chair Zara approached with the items she had requested and handed them over. “Are you going to be okay? I know healing can take alot out of a viridis... ” moving out of her way Zee went to an empty patch of floor that had a wall and slid down to sit on it. She felt icky and sweaty from her run and carrying the man all the way back here, what she really needed was a shower, but first she wanted to make sure this Anyeli was okay.

“I'm Zara by the way. Also to answer your question from earlier I'm not entirely sure what happened to him. When I found him he was in a heap in the coliseum and he was unresponsive when I tried to wake him up it looked like someone had beat him up in the middle of the night though. There was a flood light on the stage that was still lit and that's not ordinary. I only know a bit of first aid from what the women in my family taught me they're all Viridis. How long do you think it will be til he wakes up I want to make sure he's going to be alright before I leave.” Zara glanced around the room from where she was sitting, up in the ceiling rafters she noticed the dry herbs. “Ah so that is where the smell of this place is coming from... ”

Lyra kept her eyes closed until Zara handed her the supplies she'd requested. Taking each jar carefully, she lined them up on the edge of the bed, labels facing out. At Zara's question, she smiled cheerfully.

"Oh, I'll be fine! Always wear me out a bit, but you know. I managed to fix most of his wounds, just a few of the larger ones left."

She briskly unrolled a length of bandage, wrapping it around her hand, then she stood. Careful not to jog his wound, she lifted his shirt to reveal a nasty scratch, just a bit too much for her to heal. Unscrewing two of the jars, she mixed the paste from one with a few of the dried herbs from the other, and gently spread it on the wound, thanking Xanth that he was still unconscious. He wouldn't be for long, though, so she moved quickly. After she spread the paste, she wiped her hands on her skirt carelessly and began wrapping the bandage around the Anyeli's lower torso with the ease of long practice. All the while, she listened as Zara spoke, nodding in all the right places.

She repeated the process for a scratch on his arm, and a finger that he'd broken, although she included a small strip of wood as a splint in the bandage for that one. Finally, satisfied that he was as mended as she could make him, she stood.

"He shouldn't be out for too much longer, she said in response to Zara's last question. "With the worst of his wounds gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see him waking up any time now."

Lucas had been in some scrapes before; a few fisticuffs here and there had upped his tolerance for pain, but this was something else. He was in so much pain, he didn't have the strength to open his eyes, and instead concentrated on breathing slowly, keeping his breaths consistent. He stayed like this for a few minutes, until he felt something strange; all his aches seemed to be peeling off of him like the layers of an onion. Within a couple of minutes, he was almost pain free, minus a throbbing finger and a laceration on his stomach. He didn't dare open his eyes for fear that with sight would come the realisation he was beat up, and the pain would come rushing back. But then he felt someone dabbing at him. He remained still, wondering where he was, and trying to pluck a memory out of his mind that would explain what was going on...he was on the way to his fight and...then what? He pushed his mind further, and remembered the empty arena...the one, solitary floodlight...and the gravelly voiced man. Yes, he'd been stitched up well and truly. So where was he now? Had the gang decided it wasn't enough to batter his body, and taken him away to extort him further? It seemed unlikely - why would they be stopping his pain. Deciding it was safe to do so, Lucas' formerly bruised eyes fluttered open.

His vision swam in front of him for a moment, before restoring itself, and allowing Lucas to focus. He was on a cot, in a store he'd never been in before. And there was a blonde lady. She must have been the one that was dabbing him with stuff. Either that, or she'd just lifted his shirt to get a glance at his six pack...he presumed the former. So how did he end up here? The Coliseum wasn't near Alexandria, where he assumed this store was, so someone must have brought him here. He craned his neck awkwardly, testing it out for any sort of pain...but no, there still wasn't any. The gash on his chest was sore, and he had the feeling he might have cracked a rib, since deep breaths caused him to wince, but apart from that, he seemed pretty healthy. It didn't seem possible. Craning further, he spied a second person in the room. A tiny, Chinese looking girl was sat on the floor, looking pretty hot and bothered. But she was nearly a foot shorter than Lucas, so it obviously wasn't her who'd gotten him here. This was weird. Struggling to sit up, Lucas looked back to the blonde women.

“Hey. Where am I?” He croaked, his throat dry from being out cold for god-knows how long.

Zara nodded silently at the woman's response of her being a bit worn out after healing, she understood that, when her mother took care of some of the larger wounds she and her brothers and father sustained while training such as broken bones and such it always wore her out. She observed quietly now as the healer moved onto taking care of the wounds that she wasn't able to take care of with her abilities. “Who ever beat up this Anyeli really must have been ticked off...” she shook her head softly at the thought. “He shouldn't be out for too much longer, with the worst of his wounds gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see him waking up any time now.” As if like magic the Anyeli started to move slightly as the woman began to stand.

He didn't really seem to move at first but Zara sat completely still her eyes focused on him as his eyes fluttered open. As he began to crane his neck about, in what looked like strange positions from where she sat, she slowly began to stand up and approached him quietly. “Hey. Where am I?”, to her his voice sounded hoarse but for all she knew that's how his voice usually sounded. When she finally reached him he had managed to pull himself into a sitting position. “You, my Anyeli friend, are in New Alexandria, in this healers shop,” she gestured at the Viridis whose name she still had not gotten, “I'd take it easy when I found you you seemed to have taken quite a beating...I'm Zara by the way.” She stuck out her hand so that she could pull him up to his feet if he really wanted to get up.

Lyra watched as the man slowly came aware of his surroundings, his eyes cracking open, then the rest of the way. She could see the confusion in his eyes at his strange surroundings. Well, they must have seemed strange for him, considering he'd been unconscious for the trip here. She was about to answer his question when Zara took care of it for her, so she kept silent. However, when the other 'Vari offered her hand as if to help him up, she put her hand out and shook her head.

"Easy there, love. You don't need to be getting up any time soon. You can sit up if you feel up to it, but I'd recommend staying in bed for now." She stood and began rustling in the ornate trunk in the corner, coming up with a small white packet that smelled strongly of mint. "My name is Lyra Valene, I'm a Viridis Healer, and you're in my care now. I'm going to steep this for you, it's a kava and chamomile tea, it will ease your pain and help you fall asleep. When you're ready, you can drink it. Her voice was cheerful and upbeat, but stern at the same time. It was clear she was used to dealing with patients of any sort, including the recalcitrant ones.

Lucas was about to take the hand offered to him, in the intention of getting the hell out of there, but the stern voiced lady made him stop. He wasn't scared of her, of course not...but if she'd taken away his pain, he assumed she'd have some sort of medical advice for him else he'd be walking down the street one day and his ears would fall off. Or something like that. It definitely wasn't her strict tone keeping him laying on the bed, no sir. He gave the petite brunette a look that said "what you gonna do?" as he slumped down on the bed, not wanting to seem rude for rejecting her helping hand. He wasn't sure why she was there, since her role in his rescue couldn't be more than maybe carrying one of his shoes? Still, he appreciated whatever sort of effort she'd made. He wasn't sure how he'd been found, or where, since the last thing he remembered was the cold, damp stone of the Coliseum floor, and would rather like to fill in the gaps.

“Okay...so I'm guessing I got hurt. So how did I end up here?” Lucas asked, aware that he was probably not sounding especially appreciative, but pleasantries, which he supposed he owed the pair, could wait. Especially since this Lyra had told him in no uncertain terms that he was now "under her care". He didn't think it'd be a huge problem though - the minute her back was turned he could surely sneak out of her store. A quick inhale of breath disproved this theory slightly, as he felt a sharp pang in his lower chest. Yup, he'd cracked a rib for sure. Should he ask her for strapping? He didn't want to add fuel to her doctorly fire...but this hurt.

Zara let her hand hang midair for a moment, the Anyeli was about to take it when Lyra put out her own hand to keep her from helping him and shook her head. She looked over at the man and saw his expression and shrugged and let her hand drop back down to her side, she walked over to the chair where Lyra had been sitting and took her place fiddling with her leather gloves she took them off and set them on the table and flexed her fingers letting them breath a bit. She lowered her head and stared at the shop floor going into deep thought. Lyra didn't seem like the individual that would be stern but she guessed that being a healer she would deal with people that would make her have to be stern. As the smell of the chamomile from the tea began to fill the room Zara inhaled deeply, it reminded her so much of home, as much as she sometimes detested the place she still missed it, but she simply could not stand the looks the women of her family would give her, worst of all her mother. That and the remarks she would get when she went to the dojo to train, it caused her temper to flare half the time she was there and she hardly ever got any training done, that's why she had always trained at home with her father perhaps that why she was so close to him, it would explain their close relationship.

“Okay...so I'm guessing I got hurt. So how did I end up here?” his voice brought her out of her reverie and she lifted her head to stare at him her slitted deep ruby red eyes pouring into him wondering if her was seriously asking that question. She was small sure but she was very strong for a person of her size, granted she did have issues with his height which was the caused some of his injuries on his feet but he didn't need to know that and she wouldn't tell him. Still staring at him not quite with a glare or a leer but a very serious look all the same she spoke in a low hard voice. “You guessing you got hurt? Boy when I found you you had bruises all over body and face, and gashes from the looks of the injuries I know one person could not have done all that damage but that's not the important anymore the fact that I found Lyra fixed that issue for the most part. As for how you got here I carried you myself just because I'm small doesn't mean I'm helpless, I can very easily carry you.” She kept her gaze fixed on him for a moment longer and then turned to look at Lyra her gaze softening. She wasn't sure if the Viridis understood french but she hoped she did, “Lyra, is there anything else I need to do in form of payment for helping him out? Also is it possible for me to get a glass of water?”

Lyra gave a quick, satisfied smile as the Anyeli sank back down onto the bed. It was not that she was afraid of him - in fact, the thought of fear never crossed her mind - she simply did not want him to injure himself further by moving too quickly. She continued to smile as Zara began to scold him for underestimating her. Then again, Lyra might not have believed it herself, had she not seen Zara carrying the man with her own eyes. The little Rutilus was strong for her size.

She moved over to the fire with a mug and ladled in hot water from the pot simmering there. With a quick movement of her hand, she dipped just the tip of her little finger in to check the temperature. Satisfied, she dropped the small packet of herbs in. It would take several minutes to steep, and then cool enough to be drinkable, by which time she hoped the man would be willing to drink it.

Her head lifted when Zara addressed her in French, a language she had not heard for quite some time, although she still spoke it with most of the fluency of her youth.

“Certainly, my dear. As for payment, I believe that will be up to him. You certainly don't owe me anything - it was I who bid you come here to my shop in the first place.” she replied, also in French.

Leaving the mug sitting on the table, steaming slightly, she took a cup down from a shelf and filled it at the sink, handing it to Zara once it was full.

Lucas pouted slightly as the backlash from the tiny women hit him. He almost felt like letting out a bit of a whimper - he was injured, after all, and he hadn't suggested she was helpless. His assumption was a fair one; she didn't seem likely to be able to support a guy of his size, with a six foot wingspan. As the two girls began chattering in a language foreign to Lucas, he figured he could be as ignorant as them, and muttered under his breath in his Anyeli mother tongue.

“Short-man syndrome in a girl....fascinating.” He scowled, wincing as he adjusted himself and he felt the dull ache from his chest again. He needed it strapped, he was sure of it. But he was also aware this was going to cost him, so maybe he could do that himself at home? Whilst the girls talked, he observed the drink the healer had been fiddling with. It looked herbal, which normally Lucas turned his nose up at, but since this chick had apparently taken away his pain...well, he'd trust her on this one. Her methods looked old school - an open fire, pot hanging above it...it brought back memories of his childhood, when things were a lot simpler without widespread electricity being available. The open fire at home...one of the few things he did recall from his brief time with his parents. Still, this was hardly the time to reminisce, since he still wasn't exactly sure what had gone on. He didn't especially want to address the small girl again, since his head still felt kind of murky and he wasn't sure he'd survive the verbal sparring, but the stern healer did seem slightly more friendly. He politely waited for her to finish speaking, and cleared his throat, reverting back to Elysian English.

“Can you tell me what you've done to me please? I mean, I was in pain and now I'm not, which I'm obviously grateful to you for, but I'd like to know what was wrong with me. It might help me work out exactly what happened.” He explained.

Zara smiled happy that she had met another Vari who could speak to her in her native tongue, she would have tried speaking in Chinese but figured that may have been a stretch, the only time she spoke in Chinese anyways was when she was speaking with her family. She gratefully took the glass of water that was handed to her and gulped it down quickly she was extremely thirsty all the running she had done had sweated out most of the water she had drank in the morning, and she was starting to get dehydrated. After setting the empty glass down on the counter she turned back to the Anyeli just in time to see him wince as he moved around on the bed trying to get comfortable. She was completely oblivious to the foreign words he had spoken under his breath while she was talking with Lyra. The fact that he was wincing worried her he should have been healed of anything that would cause him to wince even that cut wouldn't have made him wince or so she thought anyways. “Lyra the boy is wincing when he moves I don't mean to be rude or question you but is it possible you might have missed an injury?”, she spoke this in quick french so that the Anyeli couldn't deny his pain, but from his lack of response earlier when they had first began speaking their language she doubted he could understand her anyways.

Once he began asking questions again as if nothing had happened and nothing was wrong Zara wondered if she had just imagined him wincing but it was to late now if she had cause she had already told the healer. She just ignored his questions since there was no real way to answer them and they weren't geared toward her or so she assumed. She was curious as to how the healer had fixed him up as well, and she wanted to know what happened to the anyeli as well and how he ad sustained his injuries. Taking her seat again she just waited for the explanations to begin.

Lyra judged the tea finished, and removed the packet of herbs, setting it carefully next to the sink to dry. Most people didn't realize that you could steep tea more than once, and wasted herbs by simply throwing them away. Lyra knew better. In fact, for some teas, the second steeping was the most potent - not for this one, though. She brought the tea over to the bed and set it down on the table as the man was speaking.

"Well, when Zara here brought you in, you were covered in bruises and scrapes. Most of them were minor and I was able to heal them. As you can probably tell, there were a few that were beyond my skill in Viridis healing, but if you keep the bandages on they should be fine. You do need to rest, though, your body has been pushed to exhaustion. The tea will take your pain away and help you sleep... if you wish." She spoke quickly and lightly, a smile on her face taking any sting that otherwise would be present out of her words. Now that the immediate danger had been averted, her normal cheerful nature was reasserting itself.

Zara spoke to her again in French and she cocked her head to the side, looking at the Anyeli again. She too had noticed him wince, but had dismissed it as a response to one of his other wounds. When she had healed him, she thought she had checked for cracked ribs, but then, it was entirely possible she had missed something. She was still essentially a beginner, after all. Well, she would wait until he said something. Cracked or broken ribs were difficult to diagnose, he could simply be sore for all she knew.

“It is possible, but I will wait until he is asleep again to check. That is, if he'll drink the tea willingly.” she replied to Zara, back in French.

Lucas took the steaming mug willingly enough, but stopped short of actually taking a sip. He didn't like these two strangers, however kind-hearted they were, talking about him in a foreign tongue. It must be about him, he realised, because otherwise they'd just speak English. He found it rude; he'd accidentally offended the short girl, but that was no reason to openly exclude him from conversation, specifically talk that was about him. He shifted up on the bed a little, to make it more clear that he wasn't settling down, not yet. He reigned in his temper and tried to speak in as respectful a manner as possible.

“I am still here you know. Speaking in a different language doesn't hide the fact that you're clearly talking about me. I'd appreciate being able to understand what's being said, especially if it's with regards to my health.” He said evenly, keeping his temper. He honestly didn't want to offend the healer...had she said her name was Lyra? She seemed an okay sort - well, she'd healed him before taking payment for it, which equalled a pretty solid person in his opinion. But the short girl...well, she got him riled for some reason. Sure, he'd said something she'd taken offence to, but surely even she could see how unbelievable the idea of her dragging a guy nearly a foot taller than her across such a huge distance? He wondered why she was so touchy. He turned his attention back to the healer.

“Not that I don't appreciate what you've done here. I will of course pay for whatever treatment you've given me.” He assured her, and in an attempt to cement his gratitude in her mind, took a small sip of the tea. It warmed him through, although Lucas hadn't actually realised he was cold, and he felt the glow spread from his chest to his fingers and the tips of his wings. Chancing a small smile, Lucas looked up at Lyra, waiting for a response once more.

Zara grinned wryly so he had finally gotten annoyed with them talking in french, if he had not asked she wouldn't have told them what they had been talking about, however he had asked and she wasn't going to lie to him or ignore him. Looking him in the eyes her own eyes were soft and calm not hard and leering like they had been earlier. “Well, if you really must know, the first thing I said in french had nothing to do with your health, it did have to do with your wallet though, and asking for a glass of water. The second thing I asked about was if it was possible that Lyra had missed an injury or something because the way you were wincing concerned me a bit. I apologize but I didn't want you to deny the fact that you were in pain or wincing.” Standing up from the chair she looked over at Lyra so that she could have her seat back.

The fact of the matter was that she was curious and the only way she was going to leave this Anyeli alone was either he remembered what happened to him and how he got beaten so badly, or he fell asleep. Walking back over to the wall where she had been sitting against earlier she leaned against it and looked over at him again, waiting for him to start drinking his tea, hopefully it would get him to talk a bit more, “I really don't want to keep calling you boy, or Anyeli it's kind of rude, so what is your name? Also I was wondering what the hell happened to you and why?”

When no answer was forthcoming from Lyra, Lucas got to his feet unsteadily. The room spun a little, but he managed to maintain his stance. In response to Zara, his words were brief.

“I've also been wondering what the hell happened to me, as you so eloquently put it. But I don't know, else I wouldn't have asked.” He avoided giving his name by simply ignoring the question. Grabbing the scrap of paper with his fight details on it out of his pocket, Lucas turned it over and wrote his name and address on the blank reverse. He placed it next to the still full cup of tea on the side. He didn't want to be knocked out and forced to stay here where he was apparently talked about and told very little. He addressed Lyra once more.

“My details are there, send an invoice to me and I'll make sure I pay you for your services.” Adjusting his shirt, Lucas swung his leather jacket on, and headed for the exit, pausing for one moment to look at Zara. He didn't especially want to thank her once more; he'd found her tone and attitude rude and defensive. He settled for a stiff nod, and promptly exited the store.

OOC: Lucas out.
