But anyway, I digress!
Wanna see pics of what I've been making?
(Please excuse the quality of said pictures. I've been using my phone so some of them look a bit... bad.)
This is Mowbray. He's my youngest (don't ask), and he's modelling my first ever crochet project: A hat. It was meant to be a hat for my sister's baby when he's born (due February! lol two days after my sister's birthday ) except... I kinda made it too small. I plan to donate it to charity (Mowbray wanted to keep it but as you can see, it doesn't quite fit him, and all my other bears are too big).
Erm. This would be me. Modelling my awesome super cool fabulastic headkerchief... thingymabob. It's basically just a granny triangle. The flowers on top? Not supposed to be that big.
But I like it, and it keeps my hair out of my face. Even though my sister did say "it looks a bit comedy".
I made this for my dad's birthday. It... kind of looked okay? The ribbing went wonky with some going straight up nd down, and the rest going sort of diagonal-oh-I-can't-be-bothered-*slouch*-ly. And on me it looks like a hat, but on my Dad it kind of looks like a hat with a puffy bit on the side. I dunno what went wrong there, but I blame the shape of my dad's head rather than any lack in crocheting skill on my part.
Whee! This is my favourite project with the best results: a drawstring bag. Like, it's super useful for me because I'm bedbound and have a lot of stuff that I need close to hand, but I only have one table and it's already kinda jammed. So I decided to make a bunch of these types of bags to put stuff in, that can tie to the bedrail so I can get to them without having a ginormous single bag that's too heavy to untie and lift. Right? Right.
But I love the look too. The pattern called for a single colour but I didn't have enough yarn, and then I had this maroon and cream set, and figured what the hell. Learned a lot with this project and I love how it turned out.
Okay but the best bit is this:
Well, not necessarily that. That's a practise run on a bunny I'm making for my soon-to-be nephew. The pattern calls for gold and fuschia (sp?) but I bought navy (him being a guy and all, I figured he wouldn't want pink ), but I didn't want to use the best stuff for the practise run. One of my carers saw the pic when I was checking out the pattern and said she wanted one, and I'd made her a head-kerbobby in this variegated stuff so I knew she liked it. And by pure luck I finished it last night and it's her birthday today, so guess who got a bunny for their birthday present?
It kinda looks a bit creepy with the way I made the eyes, and the lack of a mouth (I can't sew ), but it's kinda cute too. I can't wait to see how the real thing turns out. Except bigger. The real thing's gonna be way bigger.
I have other projects I've made, too, like my fingerless gloves to match my headthingy (yay for toasty fingers when typing), but I don't have copies of the pics on my HDD. I have them on my ravelry account, soggymuse, if anybody's on there? Hee, we can be crocheting buddies.
And has anyone noticed, I've started talking more and more like Kiel?
That's kinda creepy, man.
