Hallo! Lyem Agnes here, from the Cartographer's Guild headquarters in Alexshire. How do?

Well, I'll be getting right on to the point, then, shall I?

You might know this already, even though it's meant to be hush-hush (embarrassing, don't you know), but one of our apprentices let his firefox loose in our storage barn last week. Well, it wasn't only our warehouse, you see, and it was probably those blasted scribes what spread the rumours (well, is it a rumour if it happens to be true?), but anyway. The fire destroyed most of our stock of maps and, well, to make a long story short, we need you to help replace them.

Of course, the most urgent are the cities since they're the ones what we're asked for all the time. Touristy types getting lost, and all that. But we're also in need of regional maps too (but not realm maps), so I guess it's up to you where you want to start.

We can't pay much, you understand, what with having to find new storage and pay damages and all, but I promise you'll be rewarded* for your efforts.

* You can win more than one category, on top of the reward for simply entering.
** Please don't just slap stuff down on paper/canvas. Consider things like why that town/city was built there, why they've put that building/statue/garden there, what materials they use to build stuff, the architecture (as mentioned in the official Elysia profile for the larger towns), and so on. Also look at locations of usershops and houses, etc, since it'd be awesome to have those on the town maps too.
*** Please link to your maps instead of posting them, since the images will probably be too big and stretch the boards.

My first time making a map for a game (or ever) so excuse the grade school art. Also left it mostly blank so people can decide where they want their spots in should it fly.

I will seriously be happy for as long as this isn't 75% wrong because that's just going to be...sad.

My map is finally done! It only took me a month. Like, seriously, the whole month! It's wayyyyyy too big also, so instead of doing the entire city like I'd planned, I wound up narrowing the scope a heck of a lot so now there's a lot of empty space where buildings should go, and I didn't even touch the outside of the wall...

I also have to link out to dA because it's too big to host on EF or an image provider.

This is mine. I did everything free-handedly on SAI. It looks like it was done by a cartographer on steroids, yes.

I HATE YOU NOW. I did mine on freaking Adobe Photoshop CS3 and mine is the kind of thing mothers would use to wipe their babies' vomit out! DDDDDDD: Skyla's is adorable, I imagine it on the top screen of a DS game. Emma's is fantabulous, I imagine it as an item in the inventory of a hard core, blood-everywhere, medieval game.

Whew .. Okay, that involved far more detailing work than I originally thought.

My map entry: Map of New Alexandria

I used a fantasy map generator to generate random map after random map until I got one semi-close to what I wanted, and then I edited it like crazy in PSP. I can safely say that very little of the original image remains.

The program I utilized: Roleplaying City Map Generator

To explain some of the labeling, I didn't know what to call the portion of the city that I envisioned being devoted to the Guard and their posts as well as housing reserved for Guard members' use as well as for law officials and the like, so I just called it the "Law District". I think the rest will be fairly obvious as to what they are and why.

D'aww! *Snugs the Skyla* Thank you, hon.

Yours is lovely, by the way. There's only one thing inaccurate about it that I can see now that I'm awake enough to notice. The Birdcage wouldn't be on the western side of the river. The club is in the "bad" part of the city, so its on the eastern side, outside of the walls. Other than that, I think your map is perfect, Sky! (I'm also honored that you thought to put The Birdcage on your map at all. )

Emma's map reminds me of one from Neverwinter Nights, or some other professionally created RPG. Wow! o.o

Liv, don't you dare dis that map, dear! You hand drew that sucker? Color me impressed!
