Alexshire

Alexshire is a city-state straddling the River Cora. It is made up of the City of Alexandria, a couple of hamlets, and 300 square miles of farmland. The rich district (known as New Alexandria) houses some 5,000 of the city's wealthiest merchants and officials, and was built around Elysia's main portal.

"It's my pleasure," she said with a smile, a genuine smile, for despite her initial reservations about this fellow she couldn't deny he seemed as pleasant a person as she could ever have met.

She took her book downstairs and to the counter, where she hid her little grimmace with a less real smile as she parted with her coin. The book was artfully wrapped in thick, waxed brown paper to protect it from the spring time elements, and tied neatly with twine interwoven with some thread that glinted in gold. She wondered to herself if this was half the reason for the high prices here, but good service was always a blessing.

She arrived back at her flat maybe twenty minutes later. Placing the book on the coffee table and whipped her hair out of the scarf. Then she looked back at the door for a second, and decided to turn the key in the lock. Collapsing on the sunken sofa, she gazed thoughtfully out of the window.

All my instincts say that this fellow is in deed a vampire. He certainly did an excellent job of hiding it but there's something a little dead and cold about a vampire's pallour that he couldn't hide. The way he moved with such grace, and also the way he carries himself with the poise and dignity of someone much wiser than his apparent years. But I have to conceed that I have no proof and until I find that proof I can't hold any prejudice. Even if I did, would it be right? Alaine was one vampire, just one of many, I can't hold her actions as proof that every one of her kind are like that, evil enough to harm an innocent child. But I just can't help it, the thought of being amongst vampires just chills my blood to the core and fills me with such rage. The very thought of a vampire, any vampire, makes me want to tear it limb from limb.

She laughed outwardly to herself at her paranoid thoughts,

No no no, Xephi, you're just being silly now, you have no proof what so ever. He's probably just a very polite human who happens to be suffering a cold. You should be able to see this, you're going to be a healer after all. Stop thinking all this nonesense before you drive yourself insane. He didn't really look all that pale....did he? He was smiling pleanty and you didn't see any glimpse of a fang. Just because you're not over it doesn't mean you should let it get in the way of your life. He has proposed an excellent, and frankly, so far your only opportunity to get ahead around here, so stop running horror stories through your head and get on with it. He's just a sickly human.

Nodding contentedly at convincing herself that her fears were totally unfounded and she probably made a right show of herself infront of this helpful fellow, she took up her book, carefully unwrapped its cover (for good quality waxed paper like this was excellent for wrapping small medical doses of dried herbs, but quite expensive to come by) and began indulging her mind with the wonders within.

(ooc: I think this thread is finished now?)
