When you make a character...

When you make a character, do you have an overall plot in mind for them, a destination?

My characters lack motivation. I mean, besides Kiel's "omg dragon (still) want" and Maaike's "continue to get away with murder". None of them have a goal.

This has never bothered me before, but there are only so many "not really sure" threads you can do before things start to repeat themselves, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has the same thing with their characters or if you're all smarter than me and actually have plans.

Or should we have a brainstorm instead? :D

good question! Issy actually started out as somewhat the same and it does start to get boring. Which brought forth the idea that I wanted to develop Issy's character a bit n.n;; Hence the quest. I want her to get stronger. Not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. I think her background on how she became a vampire would be a good premise.. :P

Obviously, Nic has a plot. XD He's my busiest character by far and I think he's bound to stay busy until he's managed to master his biggest form yet.

Kazuma, on the other hand, is totally the opposite. He's resigned to whatever's happening to him now, his drama has happened at his past and in a sense, now he's just waiting to die. He's not the first character I made of this type, though, and in fact, I realized that I tend to make a lot of characters like him with no plot ready since I tend to look for development in-game. Just the same, I have had a lot of plot-less characters who'd gone through some major developments in-game so I'm not really worried. I just...play them because it's fun to write them.

I'm actually a little hesitant to create a character with a plot (Nic's, though, I didn't predict would be pretty big >.>;; ) because I'm scared of being gratuitous -- that is to say, I don't like using the game's "resources" for my character's selfish benefits. I think this is the reason why I make more "finished" characters and lend these characters to others instead, and what comes out is mutual. Both characters benefit.

Blahblahblah. XD

I try to have a general idea of where I want my characters to go. Whilst I try not to ham them up too much I like a little tragedy in their backgrounds (We all have one tragedy or another after all, unless we've been exceptionally lucky!) that can bring scope for further character development....and I like them to have a dream they aspire to for me to work up to in the game, once again most of us find that in true life.

When I eventually meet my goals for Xephia...I don't know what will happen :D but I am playing in good faith that she will have made at least a few friends and enemies to make future playing more interesting ;)

Excellent question indeed! I worry about those "what are we doing" kinds of threads too, so it would be nice to give my characters a certain direction. Plot please! :D

I don't have goals for Aiden and Remy, but I have some ideas of stuff I want to put them through >_>

For instance, Remy is still needs some growing up to do. Either OOCly in her journal, or ICly in RP, I'd like for her to meet the person who turned her. ATM I'm not sure what she'd do if she met them, and I'll probably find out only when I start typing. Anyway, she's stayed with the Espur vampires for a long time so I'd like her to get out of her bubble a little. She's a compulsive drinker (both in blood and alcohol), so that might put her into a tough spot at one point.

Ever since I created Aiden, he's always been a softie to me. He's friendly, he's polite, and he doesn't cause trouble. And that's the problem, cause nothing interesting ever happens to him when he's being nice. Not sure what to do with that problem, but I definitely plan to give him more quests! He's a guard and he needs more action! :D

Hahahaha, Aiden can get in trouble with Maaike even if he's nice to her. >D She seems like the type to drag people under with her without even trying, haha.

Is that an offer? >=D Cause I'd totally love to see Aiden get in trouble for something that Maaike pulled him into. :P

Well, sure! :D I don't really have any ideas, though (I suck, I suck) but maybe she comes up to Alexshire to kick some butt like she said she would and he gets dragged along for the ride? It'd be cool if they were on opposite sides this time, but I'm not sure how that would work. Maybe the bounty she's after is some big-shot dignitary or something; I dunno how it'd work with Elysia's legal system. :?

PM me if you're interested? Or if anyone else wants in, we can discuss it in the PB? :D
