Yello! It's a bit odd to be visiting, but the new school and summer are starting to break down and I'm having a lot more free time. So I'm pretty strongly considering coming back. Not sure if its going to be Lani or someone else but I'm going to be popping in alot more

Once NaNoWriMo is over I'll devote all my writing time to this place, its brillant here. I only wish I got to know all the people who've joined since my disappearance. To all new folks: I used to run the pet shop, Lani was (is?) the only lesbian in EF that I know of, and I love plotting with folks.

Oh and if anyones bored, spam me with messages on why I should come back more. Guilting is good.

I've been noticing little things right away! Miss the little newsbox, but I like the current format. You must be busy updating the layout all the time! I've been great, I'm a sophomore now, and am doing pretty well, wrote a book last November, its been good

Hehe, the new layout means I don't have to go into the ACP every time I want to make an announcement/reminder. I can just do it from a twitter/facebook app, saves a lot of time and fussing.

Ooh, I remember you talking about a book last time we spoke. Congrats on finishing it!

As for me, I've been doing okay. My living and care situations improved a bit so I've been more cheerful, but it also means I have less time for EF.

Also, I'm thinking about bringing Lani back but I'd need to come with an idea for where she was/ implement some personality changes as I don't think I could write her the same way anymore. If you need someone to have been somewhere for an upcoming plot or have ideas I'd love to hear them!

Well, we're open-plot so we don't really need anything, specifically. If you change species when you reapply Lani (if you do, that is), I'd encourage you to check out the Restricted/Needed Characters thread though; we have some races way more than others, haha. (Also make sure you check out the Character Creation Guide, it's a huge help. )

As for explaining a character's absence, you can always go with "went home to spend time with family". That'd be my excuse for Kiel if he went away. But, like, with retirement you don't need to say they've been away. They could just have been living ordinary lives, working and socialising. That's how I explain Piper and Dazadi's retirement - they go on as normal, working and such, I just don't RP it. ^^

She's going to have stayed the same but just matured a little bit. Will I still have to re-apply her if thats the only change I'm making?

Nah, you only need to reapply characters that haven't already been apped under the new skill&application system, and it looks like you have most of the stuff in Lani's journal. I would suggest just going through the application template to make sure you've got everything (I changed the inventory form recently, for instance) and some things have changed too (like housing) so you'll need to make sure you've accounted for those. Otherwise, if she's just matured that's natural evolution of a character rather than an out-of-character change in the profile so you can just go ahead with that.

It does look like some of your bbcodes need cleaning up though (that always happens when a character's been retired for a while) so the profile's easier to read. I deleted the [d] tag when we upgraded because [b] tags can now be coloured which made them erroneous, and the [cas] tag's only meant for official use anyway so it will only parse in staff posts.

Since you don't have any other characters active, you should be able to just make an in-character post right away, and then I'll reactivate Lani for you as soon as I can.

You should have bbcode permissions already, though. Those don't go away when characters are inactive, only the html permissions.

Question: Since her being a Hybrid isn't a huge part of her character and after looking at the thing, is wayy too complex, is there any way that I can make it so her mother is only a half-nymph? That way we don't have to mess around with nymph skills/faults and therians skills and faults.

Note: The only change that would make would be that her younger sister would also be a therian instead of a nymph.

Well, hybrids are only complicated if you actually want to give her Nymphy skills. She can be a half-breed without them, which is more likely actually because Nymphs only gain their elemental powers after bonding with an element. She would suffer from Urbanitis, though.

You can change it, though, if you want. This would be the time to do it, at least, before you start RPing again.
