Water splashed as the waves of the sea came inland, rushing upon the sand until they came a few feet from Remy's toes. Beside her, Zee yipped with a mix of excitement and fear as the water creeped toward him. Giggling as the firefox clambered into her lap, Remy wrapped her arms around the fluffy reddish bundle of fur. As she scratched between Zee's ears, she mumbled playfully to him. “Silly, it's just water. You see it all the time.” Still, the fox clung onto the fabrics of her blue cotton dress. It was a sleeveless dress, but she'd layered it above a long-sleeved black sweater with matching leggings.

As the waves receded, Remy lightly tossed the firefox forward and giggled some more as the creature ran toward the water as if he were chasing it away. Licking at the water that remained on the sand, the firefox failed to see another wave arrive until it splashed against his muzzle, and with a startled yip, the fox ran inland again. Still giggling at her pet's antics, Remy reached into her sidebag and pulled out a star-shaped cookie. Picking at the corners, she popped one into her mouth before tossing another toward the firefox.

The sun would set within the next hour, and Remy planned to stay until it did. It was a while since she last saw the sun set along the coasts and paint the waters pink, orange, and red. The winds were tame today, so wrapped with a woolly purple cloak, she'd wandered along the shores until she found a quiet place among some rocks. It was only a distance away from the pier, so she wasn't entirely alone. Still, it was far enough for the sea to drown the voices of the people standing on the pier.

Hm, she had a sandwich only an hour ago, but she was still hungry. Popping the rest of her cookie into her mouth, she chewed with a full mouth as she looked through her bag for more food.
