At the end of Duminas, mainlanders celebrate the Danse Macabre, a festival where the dead are said to return.

For your characters to take part in the death rites and subsequent feast, they need a mask! You can design one (as if it was their own hand-made creation or an heirloom they've inherited) using any medium, be it the template below, your own sketches, or even a real life mask if you like. However, remember that Elysia doesn't have factories or mass-production, so materials should be natural (or easily processed).

To enter, post your mask design as a reply to this thread by midnight (GMT) on the 31st of October. (Remember to say which character it's for). The winner, to be chosen by poll, gets ζ200. There's no limit on how many masks you can enter or how many characters you can enter for.

By the way, if your character(s) would like to help celebrate the Danse Macabre in-character, you're welcome to throw up a thread or two. (It's not an official event because there aren't enough of us around at this time of year to run one.) However, the festival does only last a couple of days so please keep that in mind when you post.

I'm not sure who I made this mask for. The colours suggest Xanth but I think hers would be a bit fancier.

I'm suprising the entries aren't flooding in. Designing a mask was such a fun activity, and it doesn't take long to do it, either. My entry for Aria:



Aria's actually a bit of a girly girl when it comes to her fashion sense, so naturally she went straight for the pink when delving through her sister's art chest for materials. Dying and bleaching the fabric to achieve certain colours and patterns seems to have worked, but she never was very good at sewing, so the edges are rather messy. The bits of stone and crystal stuck around the eyeholes probably won't last all night, either.

Ah, it's such a shame no one else had time to make a mask, it was so much fun! And I know I said there'd be a poll, but I like Hollie's effort way more than mine, so I'm declaring her the winner. Aria's got a really gorgeous mask to keep her from the ghosties!
