*cough*
Okay, now that the formalities are finally out of the way. My name is Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu. Wait, what? Stop the lame jokes? Is that what they told Jack Napier?!
My fakereal name, as you can see in that lovely little bar below my picture of Sinfest Buddha, is David. My favorite passtime tends to be believing I'm in the sane asylum. Yeah, that. Totally that. Whatever that is. I've been roleplaying...uh...2001-2005 and 2007-2009, if I remember correctly. So yeah, I'm coming back from a bit of a long break. Started waay back in the chats, then moved to e-mails...then Gaia. Yeah, the bulk of my RPing started in Gaia. Go ahead and shoot me now. Afterward I got a bit into more "official" forum posting, where longer posts were more required than just welcomed, but I adjusted pretty alright. I stopped RPing for awhile to GM/make my own RP, an actually successful survival horror RP, but haven't done much since. Moving on...lesse here, time to start keepin' it real to the utmost.
I'm 22, fairly fresh out of nursing school/new to the job, but pretty much used to that bit by now. That partially explains the whole me being gone awhile, as college tends to suck away your soul for a time for most of us sheeple. Talents, without letting my ego get in the way, would easily be voice changing. I can't do women's voices TOO well, but a majority male voices I've heard I can emulate pretty accurately. Perhaps not always for the best, when I drink. Not going there, though. Otherwise your typical nerd though, love books (mostly fantasy and thriller/horror), video games, and the like. ;(
As for the character I've made here...first character in a long time. Just continuing to make sure I got his character fully in my head before I actually do anything with him after he is approved at the moment. I knew the RP needed villians, but when I looked at the character list, I noticed that there is no way in hell you can get away with being a "evil" PC in this without some sort of protection/fellow not-so-good allies. Physically, everyone would pulverise any evil-doer who comes to this RP un-aligned, from an outsider's view, anyway. Your average citizen could turn out to be capable of beating up whoever tries to rob em'. In comes the good/evil don't matter Alain as a result, alligned on the side of the law but also loyal to whatever "evil" organization we can set up in Alexandria. Generally, the overall point to him in my mind is that how people view him depends entirely on their position. If your character was a fellow Red Warden or "ally of justice" so to speak, Alain, with his deeds revealed, could be the most despicable prick on Earth, for example.
Perhaps the most interesting part of Alain for me so far in his pre-roleplay development is that he isn't just “psychotic”, which I've done before (it's censored lame to write), and his life's trials, rather than being an angst pit, just served to lessen his moral code down to where it practically doesn't exist at this point. While he might be considered seventy percent evil now, the good will be shown in his mind/motivations, even as he does something normally viewed as despicable. On one end, he deals with the most “evil” individuals one normally meets, and on the other, he serves a law that allows easy framing and justified murder. As a result, those terms of good and evil don't matter to him. He might turn more to the latter as the RP goes on, though, and move farther from not-so-good to plain out evil if pushed in the wrong (or, perhaps, right) direction. Especially with his crappy luck and those shady businesses trying to persuade him fully to "their side".
And enough ego boosting/informing those who don't have to read Alain's history. ;'( Include ego fulfillment in my introduction and you might just get something bigger than the Google search list for "sex." Okay, maybe not, but still.
Lets see...probably tons of things I COULD include and am too braindead at the moment to figure out. I suppose one last note on the character, he is probably influenced on the whole good/evil thing and a bit of personality by my recent re-addiction to Game of Thrones that the HBO TV show brought on. In fact, I can assure you of that, but at least I didn't make Tyrion Jr, I suppose. There is only room for one awesome half-man at the moment in my mind!
A bit late into my introduction, but I figure I'll just mention it now, I found the site via RPG-D, searched a bit/bookmarked it, then came back the next day to finish reading up on lore that I love so much. Yummy. Ironically, the next day I was with a friend on MSN talking about the site and he had mentioned that he had been here only 10 minutes prior to my bringing it up, though he is having a bit of trouble getting through his bio at the moment.
So, uh, a bit longer than I expected, but I suppose that bit will actually wrap up my intro. I'm new to a lot of things people do now, like plot threads and posting templates, so don't mind me if I take time adjusting to things. This character will probably be somewhat in a NPC fix for the moment, but if anyone is interested in scheduling a in-character rendezvous or w/e you can make a thread or PM me. Anyone not scared off by the freaky intro, what do you like most about your own characters? Or do you prefer the nasty NPCs you've created?
Bleh, one last bit, actually. If you happen to see the young girl spoilered below in the near future-ish (once I'm used to RPing Alain) be sure to give her nice hello! She'll probably have, like, no skills and will need a friend or two. Plus we might as well get more of Elysia from a younger person's view, no?
