[Alain]

So, uh, yeah. New character and all, but the challenge I already knew was coming will be actually doing anything with him, seeing as he is land-locked with the exception of a one to two days a week (shouldn't matter, TOO much, given fluid time, luckily). Basically just seeing if anyone would be interested in plotting anything with Alain, seeing as the only event I have planned for him in the short-term is possibly clearing off some PC bounties.

For most of the day, Alain would usually be busy with work, but things become really slow, like at night, he frequents bars, entertainment troupes, and certain uh...risque establishments—as per his usual hedonist lifestyle. So yeah, those would be one place to find him. When I start as him I could have met someone anywhere on a day off or two, thanks to Elysia's wonderful portals. Not putting him near the Empire, though, as he may be an part-time evil Mr. Judge/Jury, but that doesn't mean he is involved with anything behind massacres! No...never, he isn't that morally grey, right? Probably, unless we made his life really suck over the course of the RP. Those violent days are mostly past him...but brought out in a different way.

P.S. Some who might've actually read bits and pieces of his profile may have read about the lovely Mrs. Clare, but unfortunately she is out adventuring, so she won't be coming with. I know, right, half the fun is gone! Poor Alain, having a sadistic writer make him all alone for the moment.

Dang, and i thought Clara would be tagging along for the lulz.

I immediately see possibilities for Jericho. He could be visiting Alexandria's, er, shady spots for business, putting feelers out for new cargo to run. Hummm, if they know each other already, maybe Alain's a frequent recipient of "gifts" from Jericho as thanks for finding his goons innocent on the off-chance they're caught doing something nefarious. (I can definitely see Rusty getting arrested for trying to get someone to cough up what they owe Jeri. Actually, I can see him getting arrested just for looking at someone funny; that beard is scary.) Jeri probably has guards in his pocket too, but he's not made of money so he'd be more likely to try and bribe the judge who usually deals with their cases (not sure how jurisdiction works within a city, though, like maybe there's a judge per neighbourhood...)

Also, Kiel is good for random "wahhhhh" threads. Maybe he rescues Alain from a disgruntled victim judgee. I'd offer Maaike too but she's sort of not available in Alexandria right now.

Oh! Or Zeko. But I don't have any ideas right now for why he'd be in Alexandria or how he'd meet Alain elsewhere.

(I could also be persuaded to de-cobweb Daz or Piper, though, and it's about time Xanth played with the plebs and Faroah also has an open thread if you're interested in having all your shinies stolen...)

As far as situations, the way I've decided that I can probably jump in on my own rumour later works pretty much at any point. Any time Alain has "time off" for a day, he might...say...use a portal. I mean, his financial standing is fine, and it's not like Alexandria is running low on places to warp off to atm. :X So I can have Alain meet up anywhere, most likely, so long as it's not like he has a day off every single second or something silly like that. Of course, given Alain doesn't enjoy adventuring much, he mostly will be locked to towns 80% of the time. >.< Instead I have to give him more incentive for more...devilish actions to "heat the pot" a little.

The Jericho interaction definitely sounds interesting, though, even if it might've only happened once or twice—since, as you said, Alain's reach wouldn't be immense within a whole city. Perhaps some judges just pick up cases ASAP if another is busy? Dunno. Would be nice to have a sort of system in place where one could get away with a bit more...you know. Not sure how Kiel would really interact with Alain, or vice versa, so I haven't given much thought on the two of them yet...

And it's too bad Maaike is too far away, though, it'd be just his luck to be off in another city when all of a sudden...wham. Trouble on his day off. ;( Always knew the guy had horrible luck. It's his own personal weakness! First caught in a bizarre child killing incident (soonish, anyway), then dragged into meeting a wanted bounty hunter. Poor guy. How does that song go? "And it's so easy when you're evil~" Lies, even the slightly over the border from "neutral" Alain has enough trouble as is!

I haven't heard that song, so I dunno. Maaike lives in Espur, though, so it'd be easy enough for them to meet up there. We were thinking that eventually even there wouldn't be safe for her and Aiden, but it'll take a few weeks for the higher-grade wanted posters to filter through. In the meantime, she'll be more cautious but she's not the type to coop up at home hiding.

While part of me wants to say Jericho, as I'm very interested to see how we could work that out—I think what with having three players in on the action between Aiden, Alain, and Maaike will prove a lot more interesting with time. Mind, Alain would probably play the unwitting "bad guy" in this case, as he would be all "DAY OFF WHOOOOOOOO!" whereas seeing a known magistrate might make them like "o_0 wtf is he doing here?" Meanwhile, it might be better to have another thread for you two to develop the situation in Espur further, while Alain and Jericho are off in Alexandria for the time. Not sure if I'm making much sense at this time of night, though.

TL;DR: Jericho for shorter planning time/me finally RPing, but Maaike if we can work something out between me, you, and Joy within the week—as I'm sure you two had already been discussing something before I came in. :X

Also note that I haven't really done a char like Alain in many years, or often to begin with, so I might be a pest while I try to decide the set style of his posts. I have a good idea already, but still, gotta make those catchphrases! Hind's teeth, "May the Power of Xanth compel you!", etc. :X

Er.

I'll try to get on when you and Joy are both online, and then we can adapt the "must flee the cities" plot to include Alain. In fact, maybe their encounter with him is what triggers the whole fleeing thing. I wonder if Maaike's got him on her corruption radar? She may have seen him in one of the shadier night spots before and be leery of him because of it.

I'll try and throw up a thread with Jeri first, though. Gosh, so much posting.
