Despite coming from a relatively large family, Alistair often likes to distance himself from those around him. He has few friends, but you could not find a more loyal friend in Alistair if he is given the chance. He fights with a selfish, self-serving instinct, but is generous to close friends and family. Although he can submit to selfish urges, he can be considered a neutral presence with no set moral alignment, instead simply taking care of himself and his own. Alistair is prideful, but slow to anger. He often interprets innocent comments as insulting to his pride, but chooses not to react and instead hinder the culprit if he is given the opportunity.

Alistair suffers from bouts of self-doubt and lack of confidence, and is the first to question his own course of action. He is the fifth and youngest child, so this may be why he cannot feel like he trusts his own judgement. His own pride may prevent him from seeking a second opinion which may well often be needed. Alistair meets people with a neutral stance; regardless of sex, race, occupation, religion or alliances, everybody is given the same chance. He finds it difficult to forgive or turn the other cheek, but sometimes exceptions are made for those who are special in some way to him. Alistair has lived in the shadow is his older siblings, Gregory, Isla and Isobel. His sister Serana remains his confidante and closest friend to this very day, and understands her brother, whether through intuition or her sept abilities. Choosing to deviate by becoming a Peteulanus has led to even more mockery from the eldest three, which has resulted in Alistair distancing himself further and moving to Alexandria. He has never received explicit approval from his father, but is fond of and has always admired his mother Beatrice. While the eldest three of the family easily found work on ships as gunners and mercenaries, Alistair has moved to Alexandria in search of work and to make something of himself. He is frequently in touch with Serana by letters and calls, and often she visits, but still feels isolated.

Coming from a large clan, Alistair has received little attention as the youngest of the five. The eldest three of the Beaumont children have proved unruly and troublesome, and so much of their parents' attention has been focused on taming the three. He has been bullied for much of his younger years, especially by his eldest sister Isobel, due to his scrawniness and lack of interest in the arts of combat. It was only past adolescence that Alistair became more muscular and athletic, and he has half of a mind to learn how to use a weapon just to show her what he really thinks of her.

Description: Serana is Alistair's closest sibling, acting in the role of friend, confidante and advisor. She is just as tall as her brother, and shares similar features, but has inherited the chesnut brown hair of her mother. A sensitive individual, she is suited to her sept and takes great pride in using her abilities for good. She is settled in an apartment in Espur, and rarely visits home, where their other three siblings live, except to see their parents. Like Alistair, she has been on the receiving end of much grief from their older, brutish siblings, and so has never been close to them. She owns her own tailoring business, and regularly sends gifts of ties, silks and other garments to her brother by courier. Her main concern in life is Alistair; he unintentionally causes her to worry despair for him. Although Serana is generally a very cool and collected woman, she often loses her temper with Alistair over his lack of rationality and disregard for his own safety. They keep in contact regularly and are as close as ever.
