First Impressions: Previously a thief, the girl gives off a feeling of an older individual, which is often jarring for adults. Ultimately, Kali is still a child, and likewise those adults will probably notice the difference between the adult like manner of the girl and actions that suit her.

Now a vampire, the hardest part will be noticing her, and not the single skeletal wing on the right side of her body.

Distinguishing Features: (the above). One might notice that she could pass off for a pretty boy, much to her frustration. Either she is a pretty boy or just a cute girl, and upon turning, she'll never stay out of that misunderstanding. It's a hard line between needing short hair for travels, and wanting longer hair when a person in town calls her a boy.

Adaptable ; Contemptuous ; Resourceful

As the member of her new family that sometimes literally puts food on the table, Kali has to find supplies in any manner possible, usually by hunting. Perhaps the most frequent method comes from the fact that she enjoys helping farmers and scaring beasts from their plots. However, her most despised method is working in public services She can serve others fine enough, but she can't keep a smile on her face for any time at all. At the slightest remark, she can be quick to temper, too.

Bold ; Impulsive ; Thoughtful

If Kali has something she wants to do or say, it is likely she will act upon it, as one might expect of a younger child. She is known to change her mind frequently and make long-term decisions on-the-fly, rather than beforehand. To make matters worse, despite her own views on being a hopeful person, she often finds herself stopping to think on whether she feels something is right or wrong. While she tries to uphold a righteous moral code, there is always the fact that old habits die hard, and sometimes she finds herself thieving the very people she helps.

Energetic (well, mostly) ; Creative ; Bemused

When not lost within her own thoughts, Kali is usually pleasant, though a bit too playful. Her tendency to pay attention more to her own actions than the feelings of another also makes her callous, as she does take her “jokingly mean” comments too far at times. The sensitive will find her sense of humor unenjoyable, especially if Kalypso says the wrong thing at the wrong time. That said, she has a talent for thinking of some way to try to make up for it, if the target is willing. She is also creative in her own works, a wonderful artist in crafts requiring one's hands, rather than her mouth.

Curious ; Insightful ; Loyal

While it may take longer for Kalypso to trust another than her companion, one will find that her overly active mind has left her as a wise companion. She is the type to be able to come up with great advice for another, though unable to follow it herself. Of course, Felix is the one often giving advice, although he often will mention that their interactions are a learning experience for both of them, even at his age. Furthermore, she can usually “read” a person and figure out what bothers them. Even when she isn't right, she uses the leverage that inquiring gives to her advantage to figure out what is really going on. Of course, this works just as well for ill-intentions, and at that point, Kali usually isn't keen on keeping her mouth shut.

Tesseminas 16th, 9978 XA Little Angel? Hardly.

Kalypso was born as the result for two Anyeli wishing to be married and live in the Anyeli Empire with their family's blessing, but not having two children. Her case was an extremely rare case for Anyeli, in that she were a second twin. Her parents, not entirely unkind, used the fact that they were living in Hesia at the time to put her in the only decent orphanage known, rather than a lifelong conscription to the military, as the Empire would have her. Truthfully, the better option wasn't much different than living on the streets, though, and Kali at times found herself resorting to nefarious activities (pranks, mostly) to pass by during the rougher times for the orphanage. By 9983, however, she had enough with such a life, and sent a message throughout Hesia via the CORWW, in hopes that someone might come to adopt her.

From then on, though, things changed. A human named John Lester took her in as his daughter. John was a priest of Xanth, and although he did not bring much income to the household, some donated to the man for his contributions to maintaining the faith of the citizens. More often than not these generous individuals were from the government, however, so it wasn't very different from the Earthling concept of welfare. They had enough food and drink to pass by, but not enough for the pleasantries, like expensive dinners.

Later on, Kali would find out that John adopted her due to the recent deaths of his wife and daughter, and found her message by chance when someone was reading it in his chapel as an example of “children in need.” Need, in fact, was on both sides. Regardless, it didn't take Kalypso long to adjust to her new surroundings.

The small girl found that, to her own amazement, people had this nagging habit to leave their things out in the open. Often, she'd find things just on a desk, nothing important, and just reaching out and...taking it. She never understood this was stealing, but it was the beginning of a bad habit...

A few years after her adoption, and plenty of happy living, along with minor education, made her grow soft, contrary to what an Anyeli training camp would want. She began making friends with even the most unruly individuals, one of which being an elderly Therian named Felix Cunningham. The Therian often took trips between the east and western side of the main continent, using Hesia to mostly bypass the Anyeli Empire. The two became friends when she happened to “come by” a fruit when he was hungry, and ended up giving it to him after hearing his stomach growl: much love was earned due to his Therian metabolism. She soon after learned that he preferred the form of a tiger most, although he also could transform into a harmless feline and one other form he wouldn't show her.

He was only one of many, and Kali no doubt had her fair share of run ins with the wrong sort. Being a priest's daughter only brought her more trouble, as the guards enjoyed dropping her off to her adoptive father in person. Regardless, punishment never lasted long with her.

Eventually, however, she managed to get herself in trouble she couldn't talk her way out of...

*note: I actually just realized that EF doesn't necessarily have a bear like creature. Should I create a creature similar to one, with maybe some slight changes due to Elysian influences? I think it'd be just as fine if I figured out something to fit existing lore, which would only take a few minutes, so I will probably end up doing so regardless of the answer.

All right.” John began, holding a pair of glasses in his hand. “Where did you get these?”

“Get what? Oh, uh, those? I must've found them at school.”

John groaned and put his hand over his face.

“They were just lying on a table! I was worried that someone had lost them, so I took them to bring them back to the owner, honest!”

“And you didn't think to bring them to the lost-and-found? Someone probably needs these.”

Kali sat in silence for few seconds, pouting before an innocent look spreading on her face. “I forgot about them...”

Menenas 6th, 10012 XA “'No longer a kid'-napping”

Kali, despite wisening up over the years, still remained that childish girl. Fully educated, she was allowed much more time than she really needed in a single day to do as she wished. In fact, she even listened to her father's lectures on Xanth and stories of the founding of his faith. Certainly, she needed to find a calling, even if she was young. All she really enjoyed doing was flying around town as a messenger, which she had gotten quite skillful at.

While wandering and flying around town, like usual, a strange man approached her. She'd been at the docks, which wasn't always the safest part of town, but one she felt certain she could move around easily in. After all, if trouble came by, the lake could always be her escape route. She'd argued with the man over how he hadn't tipped her for her delivering a message to him. Angered, he shoved her aside to continue on his business. When she followed him into an alley, yelling all the while, however, another man approached her from behind. The next thing she knew, she was alone in a dark, stone cellar.

At first Kali was confused. Had she somehow fallen asleep there? No. She didn't like sleeping without some sort of matress or hammock. So how had she gotten there, she wondered. Every so often, someone would bring her food, and she heard another child cry on the other side of the cellar during the later hours of the night. She never saw him, although she did manage to pick out his gender by the sound of his voice. Asking who he was, what he was crying about, or how he was feeling all were met with silence.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but she began to start counting time by the meals the two received. Of course, that wasn't always reliable. By the time she counted up to two days, the meals became more scarce. A nagging feeling told her that at one point she'd only had one meal for an entire day. Incapable of sleep due to hunger, she fell prey to serious thinking, rather than just trying to bide time with random thoughts.

There was always a darker side to that. Rather than mindlessly count the drips of water coming from a unknown source, she thought about things like when help might actually come. Her father must have been worried about her, after all. The guards would come, given time. But they never did. No brave adventurers came to her aid. Not even the smallest bug, which she sometimes felt crawl up her leg, or around her hair. She couldn't even swat at them.
Kali sank into depression. Once a captive was out of things to distract themselves with, it didn't take long for them to crack. This was the fourth day.

The fifth day her captor finally began to pay attention to her. She was glad to at least have some sort of interaction, for the boy who'd been sitting on the other side of the cellar wasn't in the room by that fourth day. She'd know, for she kicked her meal plate at him to try to get a response, at long last. However, the captor's attention hurt, and she felt a pinprick on several locations of her body. She began to hear the dripping again.

Her head began to feel light, numb, even. The days became unsure, although she felt a distinct sting on her collarbone as her skin was scraped off. Kali was thankful for the numbness, then.

A bit before she saw daylight once more, she felt a distinct bite mark on her left shoulder. Understanding had long since dawned on her, but at that point she'd hardly cared. She then was forced to drink a bowl of strange tasting liquid she didn't recognize, too strong to be water. She also got to meet a new addition to the cellar she didn't notice, but couldn't remember much of the meeting, for she fainted afterward. The next thing she knew, she was under the care of healers.

For the remainder of the month she had rested, although that time wasn't easy, either.

The first decision the healers had made was to amputate her left wing skeleton, which had deteriorated and threatened to damage her spine. Unfortunately, the surgery never quite finished, as Kali's pains, old and new, drove the actual healer to death. The surgery was undoubtedly being performed too soon, as the old wounds had not fully healed. to attack those trying to help her. She'd been held down for the entirety of the left wing's surgery, but as soon as the surgeon dictated that the right would need to be removed, she became uncontrollable. Even after she'd healed and was ready, she refused to comply.

The hardest factor might've been maintaining her bloodlust, though, despite being force fed already. Kalypso attacked two of her carers, on top of this, though neither were injured terribly. From there on, the cabal had taken her on...

Erimis & Thanatas 10012 XA The Hesian Cabal / Attaining Freedom

The cabal was hardly very welcoming of the fledgling vampire, especially one so young. The younger the vampire, the more difficult their transition tends to be. In Kali's case, a week and a half of little to no food and drink left her thirsty, which resulted in valuable resources being taken away during her initial recovery.

After much difficult discipline, however, the young girl managed to overcome this obstacle after these full two months. She'd garnered enough control over her bloodlust to only need a drink a day after intense training for the first month and a half, rather than several per day, but wasn't comfortable outside the cabal's shelter until that last half a month. Of course, this meant she still wouldn't be allowed to return to her father without escort, given how unsafe it'd be.

Another issue ran into her relations with her Therian friends. Although their minds told them that she was still the same friendly girl they knew, none were strong enough to resist their instincts to her new identity. One, however, did. The old traveler Felix, although quite tense and often struggling with his own instincts, had managed to treat her like normal on both trips he made during Erimis. So in the end, she still had one friend, at least.

However, she did meet one “new” Therian, who, although he kept his distance, still managed to talk to her. The Therian was a man with hawk-like wings named Teague Lisban, who'd fly above her while talking as a matter of precaution. He said that he liked to “trade tales”, and that it was uncommon for young vampires, such as herself were uncommon in Elysia. Or any other land, for that matter.

Upon hearing her story, though, Teague was crying. A young man even younger than herself, he wasn't quite ready for hearing such a story. He gave her a “gift” to commemorate the meeting, and so that he might one day talk to her much more comfortably the next time he was in town. Little did he know, that Kali wouldn't be in town much long after...

The cabal never had the time to pry over a mere half a month before Kali left Hesia. Slave traders had been tracking Felix's recent trips for months, talking about a tiger Therian they were planning to capture near the cabal as Kali was headed home. Naturally, Kali immediately told the guards, but against better judgement, set out to warn Felix ahead of time. Of course, slavers and guards were much faster than Kali and arrived there first.

The traders had mounts for transport, and ended up arriving to Felix's camp with several other Therians captured along the way, what seemed to be part of his clan. The guards had burst into action just ahead of Kali, “somehow” arriving there before her. Amidst the skirmish, she managed to find the key to the rest of the Cunninghams' cages, and released them unto their captors. At least, those that could fight, anyway, as a few were too injured to join the fray, or couldn't fight to begin with. Felix himself was in the center of this, and it wasn't until the battle was over that Kali had mustered the courage to approach him. Blood was everywhere, nagging her nerves, but her armlet, Teague's “gift” prevented her from losing control. Otherwise she'd undoubtedly have been more a hindrance than a helper.

The guards managed to route the slavers, surprised to find the very child who'd warned them in the area. However, seeing the freed Therians, they knew why'd she come. They worry.

Unfortunately, Kali also no longer felt like a city would be her home. When she could safely sit inside the cabal and drink in solitude, the same event could happen to both of the most tolerant people she knew. She also didn't feel up to meeting her father as a Vampire just yet—so she took no time in asking Felix is she could accompany him, promising not to get in the way.

Soon after, Kali and Felix began traveling together, although she had to fully explain her circumstances to him before he hesitantly accepted this. After all, the cabal seemed the safest place to put her, and Felix would never feel truly comfortable traveling with a vampire, no matter how well he knew her. The Armlet, however, convinced him of otherwise, and in secret he began traveling in search of this "Teague", and Kali seemed the perfect person to draw him in. His reasons, however, are unknown to Kali.

"It'll be dangerous." Felix said. He stroked his ungroomed gray beard in consideration of her offer.

"I know! It's just that...I can't go home. The cabal wouldn't understand this thing." Kali replied hurriedly, motioning to the armlet clasped to her left arm. "Some might even try to take it!"

Felix, mind decided as soon as he saw the girl's tears, still wasn't entirely sure he was making the right decision. Could he trust her? In the end, though, he knew he had no choice. She was likely to get herself killed, or worse, lose her armlet if left alone in the wild. Then his clan nearby Hesia could be in danger.

"Okay, but there will be certain conditions..."

Minevas & Duminas 10012 XA Safe Travels?

[spoiler] It turned out that the trip ended up far more pleasing than he thought. With the ring's aid, Kali only needed a certain amount weekly, rather than the ravenous hunger on a daily basis that he feared. Felix often asked how she was feeling, and warned her many times that should she ever feel the slightest bit hungry, she should notify him. Finding a meal is a lot easier when it isn't on the spot, after all.

Another issue was Kali's remaining wing. In the city it was often restrained and not problematic, given she didn't move around much. Sleeping was an immense pain, however, and in the wild this problem increased tenfold. If a tree branch touched her wing and caught it, she'd cry out and lay shaking. A sudden gust of wind could sometimes result in the same reaction. Felix, in turn, began taking care of the girl, much to his own surprise.
That wasn't the last of them, however, as it turned out the girl's appetite was considerably smaller than his own. In fact, the two began to joke that were Felix a vampire, he'd probably need 4 pints of blood on a daily basis, rather than a the usual 3. Of course, neither mentioned the sour thought that were Felix turned as a Therian—he'd be dead, or worse. Be that as it may, Felix began feeling hopeful about having a young companion with him.

Although the pair certainly don't know everything about one another at the present, the learning experience on both sides allowed them to get somewhat comfortable around one another, in as much anyone in their position possibly could be. They'd talk, joke, and sometimes be physically close, barring hugging (Kali once asked to ride on him when he was a tiger, scarily enough).

The first month mostly went on like this, however, midway through Duminas Kali's first discovery of the drawback to her enchanted Armlet came to fruition. All of the supported control she normally had over her Bloodlust vanished, and so did she, late in the night. Felix woke up hours later to find her gone.

Kali was afraid of the first thought that had entered her mind—that Felix was a suitable target for feeding. She ran off in fright, staying ahead of Felix, who managed to track her for one and a half days before finally catching her. In truth, it'd only taken one day for the effect of the ring to kick in, however, as Felix spent time tracking her, Kali had to consider the consequences of their travels. At any time, she might kill her best friend. Only friend, really, and possibly even her father, should she come to visit him again. As a result, she holed herself alone in a cavern.

A bear approached her half a day later, observing her quietly. Kali at first was worried the predator would kill her right there for being in what she thought was its lair, but it merely sat there, watching her. Kali sat and did the same for a long time, more than two directional "shifts" of their shadows. Eventually, she managed to muster the courage to pet the bear, an insane thought that would've gotten her killed in all likelihood. Of course, Kali hardly was worried about death itself, but rather the pain accompanying it.

Before her eyes, the large brown bear transformed into a very familiar tiger, and she didn't take long to realize who it was. After full explanation, Felix accepted the situation, although he stressed his anger at her sudden escape. And that she should never touch bears she was normally unfamiliar with, regardless of how friendly they may seem.

Currently, the pair have reached the Alexshire region, although Felix is taking Kali closer to Danurai for better game. Well, that and discovering exactly how she managed to find food for him every time he passed by town...

I know speed might seem weird, but I think if she has been traveling around with Felix (an experienced traveler) mostly on foot, she'll probably have sped up her normal walking pace. I think it fits much more than two Stealth points, considering one might be some stuff someone could learn on the streets, but two or more sounds like something a professional (read: adult) thief or assassin would be capable of.
