The Vanguard

Since The Vanguard returned from Acantha, certain parties have been attempting to identify and locate them. Many wish only to investigate their experience in Acantha further and are willing to pay the Vanguard's members for their trouble. Others, however, are disgruntled and dismayed by their so-called interference in bringing to light the existence of other gods and realms. Though also interested in interrogating the Vanguard, they are not willing to pay. Some even wish to kill.

Restrictions: None
Employer:

• Any organisation you choose or create that has an interest in Acantha.
  (For instance, the Voice of Xanth, the Sect of the Dragon, the League of Protectors, etc.)

Starting Location: Headquarters of the organisation you choose.
Destination: Various

Objectives:

• Identify the members of the Vanguard (including the rescue party who joined up later).
  
• Locate them.
  
• Tell your employer who and where they are.
  
• Optional: Approach the members of the Vanguard, either together or individually, on behalf of your chosen organisation. Depending on the organisation you have chosen, your mission will be:
  
  • Find out what you can about their time and experiences in Acantha.
    
  • OR Interrogate them for particular information pertaining to your chosen organisation.
    (For instance, the Sect is most interested in the whereabouts of their lost god, Dimitri, and believe him to be in Acantha.)
    (For example, anti-Xanthian cults are interested in ways to raise Danae above Xanth as the god of Elysia.)
    
  • OR kill them and return their bodies to your chosen organisation so they can be displayed as blasphemers on behalf of Xanth.

Minimum reward:

• ζ100 per Vanguard member encountered.
  
• +/-1 reputation per Vanguard member encountered.

Notes: Some of the Vanguard were NPCs but the majority were PCs, so you will need to collaborate with their players for this quest. Not everyone knows who they are, hence the need to identify them in addition to locating them.
