The cool breeze blew by, indicating that the twilight was settling in. Dust swirled around in random patterns, weaving indolently through the filthy streets, lifted into the air by the draft. Gloomy clouds drifted before the wavering marble moon and obscured it until it was no longer visible. A frigid chill crawled up the spine of every being in the vicinity, whether because of the hidden moon, the pitch-black night, or the mere fear that most felt in complete darkness.

Entirely dressed in black, a thin, tall man continued striding forward quietly along the stone sidewalk. His face was concealed by a long cap that cast a shadow on his face, which was all for the better, because his ivory pale skin stretched taut over hollowed, sunken eyes that truly never saw. His jaw was squared and his stance determined, every step firm and resolute. Suddenly, an appalling memory threaded its way through his lost, tenacious state and reached the part of his mind that was still vaguely sane. Groaning in pain, he halted and clutched his head, unable to bear the horrible reminiscence.

A few moments later, he straightened and continued sauntering stiffly, hands unmoving at his sides, mind set on some unknown destination. A corroded gate was just up ahead. Not really taking in his surroundings, he kicked it open with a powerful thrust of his leg and entered the park. It was dim and cold, but he took no notice. He didn’t know where he was, but all he knew was that he needed to take action.

Two or three figures were standing in the distance, blurred shadows in the night. A girl, a boy, and….they were all just muddled in his head. He vanished into the murkiness of a deformed coconut shy stall and watched them from afar. Those people were his enemies; they were definitely the ones that had ruined his life. Blood boiling beneath his skin, he fumed angrily under his breath and gnashed his teeth. They were going to pay for his suffering. Swiftly grabbing a heavy coconut ball, he aimed it at the pair and flung it with all his might.

Vadir felt an ominous chill through his body; the night was growing. The moon, the only decent source of light, was concealed beneath several dismal clouds. It was that dark, and he could not see his hand in front of him, nor the face of the shifter. He felt trapped in a typical horror movie.

Something round and hard came hurling towards the two. It sliced through the air with rapidity and hit him. The impact almost made him topple over; whoever did that threw -hard-.

Thryn noticed that the night had developed. The shadows cast lengthened until the pool of darkness grew until she could no longer see anything. Suddenly, something whirled through the air and struck the demon, almost forcing him to the ground. What was that?! she thought, alarmed.

Her head whipped from side to side, looking for anyone who could have possibly thrown that. The thing looked like a ball, but she really wasn't sure. Questions forming in her head at an unbelievable speed, she thought the best thing to do was act with caution.

"Er, you okay?" she asked in a whisper toward the demon.

Vadir tilted slightly to get a good look at the unidentified flying object that had just been hurled at him. No luck. Whatever it was had been thrown deep into the darkness, and now he wasn't so sure about going off to get it. There could, after all, be something similar lurking there.

Surprising even himself, he spoke aloud, "I want to know what's there." He started to step forwards.

Thryn was curious as well, but the situation seemed too dangerous for mere inquisitiveness now. The bizarreness of a ball suddenly whizzing into the air was more than a bit strange, and more than a bit eerie. Stiffening at the thought of a criminal or perhaps a killer on the loose, she rubbed her arms and cast a glance around at the park. It was still dark, dim, and uncanny, but something was...different.

"You sure that's a good idea?" she asked, suddenly panicked. She had been in quite a few situations similar to this, but nothing much like being in an abandoned amusement park with no idea what was lurking around, and mysterious things flying through the air.
